here’s to the afterlife —

what fate does the day after The Last Day hold?

doubt ,

doubt consumes man’s faith .

down into the depths of the pit

my mind descends ,

down to the caverns ,

the walls closing in .

the light dwindles ,

crushed under the weight of this apparent reality .

hopeless and helpless ,

lonely and tired .

beaten down by the endless sorrow .

he snivelled and stuttered

forsaken by all.


Opus Dei

crushed his voice,

divinity rules

we have no choice.


Hung in Basra,

whipped in Riyadh,

mocked in songs

at every Fleadh.


Barefoot on Oxford Street

drunken in Prague,

alone in the dock

judged in The Hague.

The taking up of Snakes

In the taking up of serpents

their twisted bodies writhe

a perversion of observance

to tempt the poisoned prize


Such faith to goad a creed

with flesh that turns to dust

to where all life will bleed

and prove the worth of trust


Blind as snakes the dancers twist

with tongues that speak no worth

they value more the venoms kiss

than all of life on earth

He will never rise,
only blind leading the blind,
with blind faith eyes,
blindly praying lifelong lies.
The wasted prayers, tears
pages out of the holy book.
The people gather in mass,
for mass, reciting paragraphs
that, hold no substance,
only bloodshed and disappointment.
