June 2025
It’s really very warm today -
Global warming, gone astray.
While I listen, children play.
Sitting in the shade.
In walking down familiar paths,
Elder, nettles, blackberry craft
A green seclusion and gentle draft
To keep the blaze at bay.
They sunbathe in the local park,
Lotioned skin that gleams so stark,
Without a solitary remark
On this unusual day.
Every day she walks her dog,
She throws a stick - expects a log,
Elderly, she has to jog,
Perspiring all the while.
We fret, we worry and we frown -
The world seems so upside down.
I’m lost in wonder all around
Still trying to understand.
So yes, it’s really hot today,
And global warming, gone astray
Allowing me to enjoy the day -
Still something’s not quite right.
