Cynthia, cheers for the comment on my poem. Yup, both our poems are about the same thing, but you say it better.

great stuff Gus. Seems more direct than your usual style but with economy of words. The title as wonderful as the poem. Win X

yep send me your email address and ill send it over as an attachment. i dont know if its any good. i really need to lure some children tomy house and read them it although that could be considered unhealthy. imagine the good old stories of yore being interrupted by social services and the pc police...shit what would they do to that baba yaga old witch... eating babies and trapping kids in cages...one of my faves was a bout a boy who was turned into a goblin and worked for this witch for all his life and when he came round from the spell only a day had gone. i love those time warping tales.
so ill send you mine n you send me yours oooer

And, perhaps, they make the ineffable, F-able?
the literate, alliterate?
I love this Cynthia.
A lovely offering, gratefully received.

I like "seeking circles to soften angles" or even describing circles. The "lame skills" does seem a bit odd.I even started wondering if it was a typo!

This seems to me more about revolution, not clearly understood in purpose and 'capable of failing'. All the words are fabulous, swollen with inherent ideas. 'fallow' is great - 'lying in rest for new seeding'. 'Hollow' without sufficient understanding, or the 'ruts' you can't climb out of. 'sullen' angry but not really effectively active. Kealan, I'm probably whistling in the dark. But it's a super poem to stimulate ideas.

I like this and can identify... except 'with lame skills'
Perhaps 'connecting honesty' instead?
p.s. I love the intro to this - it just pops with alliteration...
'Poets possess passion
to pierce the superficial
with personal words –'

Neat little analogy, Dave, reeking hot chilli. IMO, we humans display, in unguarded moments, tendencies just as vicious. Was there in your mind any reference to the derogatory 'Jim Crow'? Just curious.

This is lovely. I find two poems, each complete in itself, with marvellous imagery.I realize 'deepest red' is a bridge, but I can't cross it. SHEESH! You just switched the picture to poppies!

This is good, smartly said and bang on target. I apologize for the same intent in mine, at 3:30 today, on the same subject, but said in my way. I love your version.

I just read some other blogs. Once again, no connection to other persons' works or intents whatsoever. I wouldn't do that. It must be something in the air, like a virus.

I think a lot of animals display these tendencies. I remember someone telling me about a swan that was totally ignored by the rest of the birds on the lake because it had something wrong with its wing.
Humans can be bad, but I think that as a whole we are one step up from this.

Yes Win, I think nature knocking sums it up. It wasn't meant to be a poem of despair, just the feeling of the almost overwhelming poignancy of spring. Just posted a cheery spring poem now! And thanks to all you lot below too! ;-)

A very touching poem which is obviously crafted from deep emotion.
I like the simple format, and the use of repetition "Is that why" which gives impact and pathos to this line.

You tell it like it is, Cynthia.
Poetry is about finding new ways to say things - though it's not always beauty people seek to explore on this site.
I love the depth of your poetry. It is so very rich in thought. x
