Thank you everybody, yes jimi did played the strat. I was talking about rory gallagher. I got one brother who played the strat and one brother who played the gibson. He liked neil young alot. My oldest brother played the gretsch. As a small child i would silently listen to them taping those moments.

I agree with Keith, but frankly, who knows what makes a poet tick? If I am anything to go by, even I don't know where half of my poetry comes from!
Good work Ghazala

A poem which reveals the poet as someone vulnerable yet mysterious. An excellent piece of writing. One of the best I have read in quite some time.
Thank you for this,
Keith

Thank you Graham, John and Tim for your comments. The prospect of this guy, with his agenda of violence and revenge, getting four more years in the White House is truly frightening. Support for Ukraine would crumble away and Russia would be the only beneficiary.
And my thanks to Nigel, Tom, Hugh, Steve, K Lynn, Hélène, Manish and Bethany for liking.

"With one foot set towards the shadow of secrets to be learned
I wish my friend had not left me waiting with possibilities at hand"
Excellently written, my friend. It's always a treat to read your work. Two roads always creates choices, sometimes in favour and sometimes not, "Will there be compassion for me because I simply could not stay
Or will happiness prevail because my restless journey has begun," are the best lines that leaves me thinking of the roads that I've taken and I will further be taking.
Thank you,
Manish.

I would like to add that for some years now I have been involved with a charity assisting people suffering with PTSD. Many of them have suffered silently for years, some even WW2 veterans who remained silent because they felt it was expected or because they dreaded being seen as weak.
To my mind to suffer in that manner is the opposite of the dignity which should be actively sought for those deserving of better.
That is why I will not shut up for the mere comfort of those who sniff at what they might deem to be weakness.

It was a pleasure to read your poem, Larisa. I visited Ukraine several times in the 1990s and have been writing a series of poems on the war in Ukraine (from the comfortable position of an outsider, of course). I am impressed by how many Ukrainian poets are keeping the flame of hope burning.
I hope we can get the profiles opened up soon.

Congratulations to Graham.
I only managed one visit to Milton Keynes and always thought of it as unfashionable, which is perhaps no bad thing. In any event, what do I know? This is a deeply personal, richly annotated tribute.

Congratulations Graham.
Back in the late 70's I went on an organised coach trip from West London to Milton Keynes, to be shown four developments in the hope we would sign up to purchase a property. I didn't...I was only along for the ride so to speak. The whole area had been planted with thousands of saplings, and as it was winter and they were leafless it resembled a scene from a WW1 battlefield. Twenty years later I found myself working in MK, in Knowlhill, and was able to see how the trees and the town had matured.

Graham,
Thank you. I agree that most people try to be good. This very intention is the pathway to eternity. With or without a Faith people gravitate toward this belief that our personal futures are accountable. We can only do our best and trust that it is pleasing and sufficient for an eternal reward. I cannot speak for God but maybe we shall see one another in the world to come as we have established a good friendship in the here and now.
Thanks again,
Keith

I recently attended Glossop Open Mic at the Labour Club. I confess to being a literary and musical heathen, however I do go to many events and see many music and spoken word shows, and appreciate the offerings based on how engaged and entertained I am. I will not name any names of the artists, but will venture that they were ALL amazing. There was music, poetry and flash fiction proffered which combined to create one of the most entertaining and engaging nights I have ever been to. I have rarely laughed so much at the amusing parts, and felt so emotionally moved by the tales designed to create such a feeling. The host, Andy Millican, did an amazing job too.
