I Wasn't Expecting Spring

entry picture

The frosted pavements sparkled like diamonds

I was lost in the winter of my discontent

My rattling old bones chilled by the cold

Sad unhappy faces everywhere that I went

There’s a message painted across the sky

A wind of change blows knowingly in the air

The seasons they come and go for a reason

Does anyone on the planet even really care?

What on earth will the future bring ?

Now here's a strange thing

I wasn't expecting Spring

Lent has been spent - It's Easter time

New born lambs in the fields they lay

Children devour their eggs with glee

Believers for the resurrection they pray

Blooming daffodils make me smile

As I dance dizzy under an April shower

Think I might stick around for a while

Oh mother nature you've got the power

Listen to the church bells ring

My heart just wants to sing

I wasn't expecting Spring

A lovely poem, Tom - from melancholy to hope and joy.

Obviously Tom you had forgotten the age old piece of advice..

always live in HOPE! although it isn't so easy to do that in these changeable weather days-( raincoat off? raincoat on? )

what is there not to love about this poem?
