Starlight

Shine bright

Roll the dice for me tonight

Lucky charm of the sky

Burning light-years high

Out of reach

Of my motorbike

Cruising under citylight

a minute orb of brilliant water
near to midnight keeps a star
as it sits still silent, there
on a blade, skyward stares
at the distant stellar glares

In the frost sharp moonless night

the stars light the air

with a quiet and mystic brilliance

much closer than of yore

as a still quiet

blankets

the world below

Through the cold crystal dark night

a ghost drifts the grass

silent echo of a whispered flight

tree high above my eye

its soft locus

stalking

the land below

Through an ice star argent glea...

In the long small hours of dark                 Through the later time of darkness

I pause and gaze out at the stars              As we lay entwined beneath the moon

Somehow the frosted ground                    The nightly scene now sacred

Sharpens the air and the starlight             Welcomes the soft moonglow

Which lights my very soul:                        Entering both...
