Thanks for commenting on the 'amerikkkan trilogy v 2.0) glad you liked 'no.3' - I've posted each part previously as stand alone poems - but thought I'd repost the lot as the music version.
Thanks for taking the time to comment

Hi Tom
thanks for comment on Ted Crow, I re-read recently (evidently) and found it more personally Hughes at the second pass. I hope all going well at the Northampton Review, I thought the first issue worked very well.

Hi Martin . Thanks for commenting on The Totter from Toulouse. I'm glad you thought it resembled Edward Lear, as that was what i was aiming for. I was feeling low when i wrote it, so i did it to cheer myself up.

Hello Tommy,
I apologise for copying your hair style but I have saved a fortune by not going to the Barbers. However, what I have relinquished on my head I have cultivated on my face.

Hi Stephanie
I am fairly new to this site and only belatedly found out that every time I post an entry on the blog it replaces the previous entry, though all previous entries are held in the archive. I only mention this because I notice you posted quite a number yesterday but only the latest is visible, though when I opened it up I had access to the others.
Hope you don't think I'm interfering but as I do like your stuff it would be good for others to see it also.
Regards
Brian

Hi Ray
Reading poetry, some word or phrase triggers a memory or idea and then I scribble down a splurge of words, not thinking much in the early stage, just let the thoughts flow with minimal interference from the conscious mind. The rational shaping of the initial inspiration comes later, if that makes sense.

Welcome to WOL, Maki. I admire your honesty. Thinking is essential to poetry, so you are off to a great beginning. And writing definitely helps to 'sort things out'. You may find a 'free style' is a good way to start, without being hassled with rhyme. But, maybe, you actually enjoy that challenge. Whichever, always read over what you've written and ask yourself, 'What is here that I can say with fewer words, better ones?' I think that was the best advice I ever got. And I try to practise it always. So - have a thesaurus handy, the writer's best friend. And use it. Broaden your 'well of words' every day. Your mind can express only as much as your words allow. They are your 'tool' for building ideas for your own eyes and for others to share.
And a pure 'love of writing' is a wonderful thing - very demanding, but so rewarding.

Jim I could write an absolute tome
About things experienced in monochrome
But this would be infinitely duller
Than telling things in technicolour

Thank you so much for the like on 'Dieback', so glad it brought me here, to read your lovely words...
Loved what I've read so far - especially 'Waterbirth' reminded me of a short piece I wrote when my daughter was born - a long time ago.
Hope you don't mind if I share it with you:
The Moment of Birth
-------------------------
My Darling One you are so new
helpless - yet so strong!
You didn't really need the Doctor
guiding you along...
Now I know how every mother feels
at the moment of birth.
You caused such pain, such draining
of strength, yet
when you finally arrived in just a second
all that had gone before
was completely forgotten
and I held you to my breast - now calm
then gently with my fore finger...
caressed your tiny arm.
Frances Macaulay Forde - 1976

Hi Karen. Thank you for the comment on Restless Souls; I try to practice intonation and inject gravitas on audio readings; I feel rather lightweight in the acting stakes, but there sometimes is a sweet spot , maybe this was it! I hope to see you Monday. I have a rough copy of my new pamphlet too.

HI John. Following your reply to my comment of yesterday I agree about rewriting older poems - there can be a fresh approach; I find it always hard to know which angle to come from to get an idea across. I feel it helps if "philosophizing" about life to take an object and use that to hang ideas on, as it's easier to grasp a metaphor . Does that make sense? Great list of published poems I see !
All the best. Ray

I'm curious. What do you actually mean 'decipher my work if you can!'? I'm not sure whether to think uncertainty or arrogance? But, I allow, it's an interesting conundrum.
