Hi Again David,
I established the first regular public reading event in 2005 after returning from Ireland and it ran each month until 2008. Yes, like many others, Jackson (relatively unknown in Perth) first read some of her words at my 'Poets Corner' monthly meetings at the State Library in Pages Cafe in 2008.
She is (these days) very involved in the poetry scene here in Perth, particularly the 'slam' events, I think.
I have retired after many years of serving on various writing committees including PCWC, WritingWA, FAWWA and having represented Poetry Australia as a poet in residence for 6 months at Burns Beach Cafe (my last gig). See my bio here: https://francesmacaulayforde.wordpress.com/about/
I shall order your book now and look forward to reading.
Best, Frances.

Louise - I started with your first piece on WoL and was working my way through, not realising you had posted so many 'blogs' since January. Are you alright for me to continue, or would you rather me to ease off?

Hello Seán, Welcome to WoL. Your poem Street Life immediately drew my attention as it speaks of countless thousands of similar faces. One in particular comes to mind of a man I have come to know who sits outside my local supermarket asking for help. You have described him well. Thank you for this. Keith

Wow, the imagery and tone of this poem has a musical feel. It is really vivid and I got swept away it reminded of times when I used to go fishing.

Hello everyone! My apologies as I cannot be at WOL this evening; I've come down with a sore throat/cold - but hope you have a great evening!
Also, to let you know that my friend Christine won't be there either - she has to have a major operation on Wednesday (if you're believers, please say a prayer for her!)
Thanks so much - love, Dorinda x

Chaps the Conservatives are in disarray: Labour has increased its membership by another 150,000 in the last week. Corbyn's position is strengthened and another election more than likely. The Tories need to be kept under pressure. Viva! Tommy

Hi Cynthia,
How thoughtful of you to take the time to drop me a line! I have thought about you, and others, a lot too over the years! It was such an incredibly special time and place for friends to meet and share. I do miss the interactive fun and poetry competitions we would have! Ahhh, those were the days... xx

Welcome from me, too. You have great flair which is only possible with ideas worth sharing. And many of them. 'tittle tattling' is an art in itself, widely practised through all cultures and all ages.

There's nothing depressing about thinking, unless you feel that you, and only you, have the 'right' answers. Now that would be DEPRESSING.
Enjoy the journey. Read a lot, listen a lot, and say little until you have something to say which is worth sharing. Poetry is an excellent medium for practising opinions, because writing in 'shorthand' requires precision of ideas and adequate vocabulary to express them.
Is that you in the photo up top?

Hello again Hazel - I'm more than happy with a bit of insplagiarationism! - one of the wonderful things about WoL is the way we trigger dialogue and response through poetry and commentary. So bring it on is what I say. I'm also flattered that you found favour with my Fun in a Fiat 500 - phew! It did strike me that your Earsplitting was on a similar theme when I read it. All good stuff and nothing to forgive whatsoever. All the bestest, Col.

Hello Ray, thank you for your comment on A Wartime Journey. I was born in January 1948 so am only able to recollect the aftermath of the war in and around Birmingham. My poems covering this period and also the Great War are taken from the experiences of family and friends who lived through these times. I hope I do justice to their memories. Later this year I hope to publish a book which will include two sections of poetry devoted to the World Wars. I´ll keep you posted. Thank you again for you comments as always they are much appreciated. Keith
