To the point, Chris. I was in a waiting room this afternoon and picked up The Times - not something I'd normally read. Page 8 has a graph (source IFS) which shows how changes since 2010 have adversely affected different sections of society from the poorest to the richest. To be fair, the richest line was worst on the graph, but only by a little. Almost as badly affected were the poorest in society - far worse than the middle class. Every government minister should have a copy of that graph (and your poem!) on their wall but that's too much to hope for.

I love communicating with people via poetry too Cynthia - that's what I love about live performance and about this site.

I suppose Dave is just highlighting the danger of when we start to lose sight of other people's worth - when it all becomes about ourselves and our own egos. That's when we stop listening and we stop hearing what others have to say.

Marianne, I'm pretty sure I've shared this before, but - I used to haunt cemeteries everywhere, loitered in graveyards. Somehow, they are a visible bridge to the former lives of others, not gloomy at all. Like - they hold the greatest secrets we yearn to know, laughing rather kindly as we pound our breasts! I've had an extraordinary experience I might share sometime, when I'm brave enough.

Of course, we also have to add in the 'I' to the 'eye' to the 'real eye/s', just to put yet another spin on it! This is the kind of thing that I think about whilst lying down and doing 'nothing' (one of my most treasured 'activities'). And it's why I'm never, ever, bored :D

I find a different 'sophistication' in your work, perhaps an intense desire to be more clearly understood as you personally cipher your own world. Your diction is, as always, just superb.

I'm probably way off base. My brain seems to be exploding with meanings probably never meant. I feel like a helpless robot wired to 'receive'- it's very weird.

The mystery of 'eye' is as old as humanity. All mythology and ancient wisdoms focus on its 'meaning': what is 'real' as perceived by the physical 'eye', and 'realized' by the 'inner eye' of understanding/realization. It's a marvel to consider, as deeply as you can go in your own thinking, to feel the searching power of other kinship minds. An unparalleled journey. IMO, almost every major idea boils right back to this main conceptual conundrum.

I've been fascinated with the 'art imitating life' idea behind life modelling/all art tbh, and have been putting together lines for this for a while now. I love how it's all just representation, but that the representation itself is a real thing. We use real things/tools to recreate the tool we use for art. How one perspective is completely different from another, but that everything feeds into everything else.

I've also been looking for a place to juxtapose 'realise' with 'real eyes' for bloody ages too now, since I had a little epiphany about them one late night, soaked in smoke and merlot ;D So am made up about that ha :D

When you 'realise' - you see with 'real eyes'.
Very simple, but quite wow, to me, anyway!
