from the first 2 lines I am gripped. You go on to provide a pallette of words for the reader to paint his own picture. In this case however it is meaner / harsher and we are in a brutal conflicting space. Loved every word of it Marianne, Win X

Hi Val - I hope we will still be seeing you at Butterflies in Bolton - have missed you the last couple of times I went to the Howcroft. I like the new venue - I always found the Howcroft a bit too bright - like an operating theatre. The welcome was always lovely there and a good atmosphere - though Sunday isn't a great night to have anything on. They will have to get more seating in Butterflies if it takes off though - or maybe I'll start taking my mum's shooting stick...heating also!
I can't make the first one but hope to see you there at some point.

That will be because of all the vodka your men drink over there Larisa - the nose probably enflames - I'm not sure it does the same for the penis. Large hands and feet are rumoured to be a good indication - but I really wouldn't know :)

John - perhaps that has something to do with all the untrimmed hair you sprout in later years...

Ha - love it Larisa - this made me laugh - the picture also! Yes - a man can get to hide his lightness under a bushel and most of us women are incredibly forgiving anyway - but if you are a titman you are just never going to go for a flat chested girl... unless she wears a wonderbra I suppose..

Neat, in a dishevelled way. You definitely have a 'voice' and a great way with words. It would be lovely to see you try something that wasn't about dissolute alienation. Your verse...

'But I digress; take my pasty limbs and words
to work, stare at a spider in a window frame,
become obsessed with it, and chew my pens,
until they burst on my chin. Objectively'

sums up your oeuvre beautifully.

Stretch yourself!

I am a super keen gardener and 'allotmenter' type personage. I love this poem, although the phrase 'a gusting waft soars up then dips'

would probably be more recognised by my wife. For some reason, I believe a man should be able to fart freely while gardening.

Call me old fashioned.

reminds me of drunken numbness flailing around supermarkets buying more booze in that florescent light that highlights all the smudges of drinks debris, panda eyes and baboon ringed red lips and red wine. minging in anger.
i like the way the pen spills all over the chin clumsy and reminds me of another poem on here about red ink spills that stain...
i think we all like to think we are different but really its an arrogance as all people are the same, we're made of the same stuff and our experiences are all in common its a privaledge of our time to consider ourselves unique.
we're all arrogant and selfish but some of us write good poetry, and this is a good one :)

Hello John

As promised I have re read your poetry postings and find them all delightful… why indeed would I not.

Under the Wire - is my most favourite, in a class of its own..

‘Lost’ Ghazal - Once again superb in it crafted simplicity…. I’m not a great fan of this style of poetry, something missing I feel ?

Liken to fine china that clunks rather than pinging..

As to the slightly more erotic, the pretty ‘Triolet’ is, I think very well crafted and observed, however I would have been unhappy including the words ‘alleviate’ and ‘stress’, in my humble opinion I find them angular and jarring in a poem which outlines a ritual so secret and special.. I would, had it been my poem, chosen to replace it with a new line altogether utilising the word ‘press ‘or ‘less’

Sometimes (Extended Rhyming Mix) - is my favourite in this genre wonderful lovely echoing imagery, beautiful mood paintings within all of the lines.

I also have a feeling that you yearn to write more erotica but are perhaps self limiting by your intellectual inhibitions , what I mean is, that you perhaps try to completely smother the sometimes absurd, gaudy, and gratuitous nature of the subject by overworking cleverly constructed subtleties. Instead of be as intellectually timorous perhaps, dare I say, a more hands on approach…

…boom boom

Enjoy being ribald and risqué.

I have enjoyed my jaunt through your recent poetry postings, thank the Lord you are not as prolific as one or two on this site.

Many thanks and well done all of your work is superb.

Augusta xx

Hi, Ann! Thank you for sharing such a sweet poem. I liked it very much and it inspired me to write a new Rzhepick. Here it is:
If you want your night to be sweet
put a chocolate under your sheet,
then wrap your body in that sheet
and go your boy friend to meet.

I hope you are not angry. It's just a joke and the poem is really nice.
With warmest wishes, Larisa
