Hi John. Thank you for your comments on my poem "A Small Bud". Oh course this has a double meaning. Anything or anyone can flourish with just a little attention. Speaking of rain, we usually don't get a lot but as I write it is raining sideways. No kidding!
Thanks
Shirley

Hello Hugh .. your 'British Gas' is excellent, bunch of thieves, could you add BT's 'LATE charge' and their 'CASH handling' charge if you don't pay by D/Debit .. they're making millions while we say nothing ..

Thanks for your comments on The Week We Should Have Played The Lottery and Man u 2 Tottenham 3.
Fergie on insufficient injury time "It denies you a proper chance to win a football match".
I think he really does believe that the purpose of injury time is to allow Man U to score and not to make up for time lost through injuries!

Now, was that a deliberate use of 'abaddon'?! :D
You reckon? I think cos it got so little attention it got put ont back burner, and I've been ridiculously busy what with one thing and another lately. Have got at least 5 poems drafted but doing bugger all :(
I will try it again soon maybe :) Thanks chuck

Hello Nicki,
Re: Angels, a learned Anglican bishop once gave an erudite talk which left a lasting impression on me. He said, 'a sense of Mysticism, Spirituality & Prayer' is hard-wired into everyone.
Of course, he promoted his own brand as being the preferred choice, but it left me with hope for others & especially secular people such as myself.
It didn't stop me from buying interesting books on such topics though which are always fascinating philosophical routes to explore. I guess it comes down to what's in the heart. Good luck on your journey of discovery.

Hi Greg, I did a presentation on African poetry last year in Guildford and the number of languauges spoken in Africa staggered us all. So when the material for 'Lingo' popped up in the Guardian, I knew I had to have a stab at something. Am glad it appealed and please feel free to do as you suggest (a brilliant piece of writing in your paper BTW).

Hi Nicki, many thanks for your comments on The Reckoning. Always grand to receive positive feedback - helps the writer's block a bunch.
I thought your poem about Angels was quite inventive & wondered what the stimulus was. The subject of many books of course, religious and secular.
Anyway great to have someone like you on WOL.

Thanks for the sight of your tribute to the Polish fellows. It has always been Poland's tragedy that it lies - like a buffer - between two powerful nations and it has suffered at the hands of both! This country has a number of areas (including my own birthplace of South Devon) that have substantial Polish populations, with their own social centres and newspapers. Isn't the former Labour Minister for Europe the offspring of a WW2 Polish refugee and a Scots/Irish woman? I'm never quite sure though just what influences his own views as far as "England" and its sovereignty in the EU is concerned in his position as a Yorkshire (?!!) MP!

Hello JC - I do appreciate your comment on my last post. I was recovering from pleased surprise upon finding my relative's grave so quickly when I chanced to look at the headstone next door. The human tragedy was "writ" in stone...and I was thinking about it hours later. Then came the verse.
