John,
Thanks for this appreciation. Enjoyed writing 'Uses of Summer' and reading it out. But editors of magazines find it too risque!

Ta for your comment. Yeah, 'what now.......' Agree with point re cliches - didn't really think of it, just wrote what was messing my head up. Anyway, if you mess things up you have something to write about. And if there was nothing to mess up in the first place then you look like a twat for writing such a poem!

Jefferama! Thanks for the comment on the serious stuff - I feel happier with the sarcasm but aware I look like a bit of a bitch taking the mick all the time. The next one will probably be about necrophillia. Delivered in the style of a spanish nun.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your comment.
I like your poem 'The old lie,' very timely.
Interesting question. I like to think I would have spoken out for Rosa, but suspect I may have sat quietly. You have to be there to know.
I believe things have changed for the better and bigotry is not tolerated in the same way now. I suspect if it weren't for people like Rosa then Obama would not be where he is today. I have my fingers crossed for him for Tuesday.

Hey Andy,
Thanks for your message. Yes, I do plan on putting a few more poems up at some point.
I enjoyed your poem 'Pictures on Windscreens'. I liked the simplicity of it and the fact that the final line was rather telling of your brother's character.
Have a good one!

Hi Kate,
welcome to the site for budding and experienced poets/esses. I'm one of the former.
"I see red..." is very real. I like the way you've asserted your thoughts and feelings without bitterness. I always find that difficult to do, even though any bitterness there was, is long gone.
Good luck with your poetry, hope it's as successful as your childrens books.

Hi Jeff, thanks for your comments about Re-awoken. You are dead right about using "for" instead of "to" and in fact it said that on the original handwritten version.
And yes it does suffer a little from cliches. Seems that "being in love", being something of a cliche itself, causes an overdose of cliches. I can see I may have a bit of a battle against them or I could just embrace them and do something fun with them.
Anyway Jeff, thanks
Seamus

Louise thanks for your comments on my Re-awoken. I wrote the thing in 5 minutes and then added the extra "I'm awake" about 3 days later when I read it out loud and it lacked something.
I love you "Stuck Unsaid". Did you read it at the slam in Wigan? You have the happy knack of getting power and feeling into the right number of words and saying stuff others of us would be happy to have said.
Nice work

Hi Seamus,
Thankyou for your very encouraging comment on my fairy story.
Do you know, just lately, i've kept typing "ae" regularly in error?
After i'd finished this piece, i had a strong urge to tack a moral onto the end of it, but resisted.
I guess i'll have to try expanding it. Watch this space.

Hi John,
Love the poetry in your profile samples.
The etc.. poem took me through a range of emotions. I was quite shocked at how the change from laughter in truth of your words came so easily to sadness of auntie margaret and the friend with a tiny coffin. Then back to laughter with the cat imagery.
Thanks for a great read,

If you take a look at Tara J Mendes.
My little secret's out of the bag.
At least
( I think ) that's what the first poem was about in "honour" of me. The second one?
Well, maybe one day i'll find out for sure.
Sorry it took so long to reply.

This is about the current poem of the month.
I thought lines 3 & 4 of the first stanza were part of the same sentence.
Ok, line 4 does start with a capital letter but it is then followed by a stanza break and my poor brain parsed it wrong.
