Glad you appreciated my sad poem. It's strange how the most heartfelt can take the least time to get down in print. A similar occasion was when I was down in South Devon one gloomy November afternoon walking beside the River Dart - and found myself watching and listening to a solitary robin in a threadbare tree. By the time I was home (in my holiday caravan) I had the poem written in my head - see "The Galmpton Robin". Like you, I love comic verse and having read your POEM above, I can tell Mike was a damn Yankee who any girl with sense would like to tell to Foxtrot Oscar without needing an X-ray, with a cry of "Who's a Papa?" that would Echo for miles.
Cheers...:-)

Thanks, Anne. I was on here before but in the persona of Pop Up Poetry. I couldn't change the clown logo photo I'd originally put on and in the end deleted the whole profile to do it! I've made a group profile on here for Pop Up Poetry now - I have 71 on my Facebook group of that name but I don't know if they will join Write out Loud as well.
I shall put poems on every now and then, on the blog, though I'm wary of publishing online too much in case I want to enter a competition or submit to a publisher.

Hi Chrissie - a warm welcome to WOL. I love your poem. Clever and extremely moving too. Hope to see more of your work on here. Try putting a poem in the blog section, esp if you'd welcome any feedback.

Hi Janice - a warm welcome to WOL. I loved the poem about the den! I remember friends and I had a secret society for a while. I decided to sign some message in blood but cheated and used blood from a nose bleed! (Too much info - sorry :) It'd be nice to see some of your poems on the blogs second. Hope you enjoy the site!

Thanks for the comment on 'When The Wind...' John;
Yes-Poole born and bred. When I grew up there it was a dirty old seaport: potteries all around, grain silos & warehouses blowing choking dust all over town,, an overhead gantry dripping black as it conveyed coal from the ships to the gasworks. In short - a proper town. As you have seen, now it has been ponced up as a tourist trap. OK to visit but not somewhere you'd want to live - although the millionaires seem to like it.

Hi Janice
A lovely, Blytonesque, piece there. It's good to see you on here. Greg speaks highly of your Guildford night and it would be interesting to hear/read more about it.
Re the photos, do you fancy adding some basic information about them: date and name of event, name of reader, etc?
You know, if you fancy creating a Pop up poetry group profile you could invite your regulars to become members, thus giving you a simple means of messaging them all, telling them of the photos, so forth.
A thought anyhow.
Cheers
Julian

Thanks for your comment on Small Talk, Sid. Yes I think I will probably tweek that now line - probably just get rid of the word - I'll see how I feel after performing it tonight.
I see you've been scribbling again - will take a peek when I'm feeling more up to critique - leaving comments can be quite a draining process when you really think about what you are writing.

Oh - what a shame! And John Coopey's going to be there! I don't know much about the Tyldesly thing - I'll have to ask Jeff about it. I'm going to something he's doing on Saturday, so I'll see. Crumbs - it'll be December before I see you otherwise! Take care anyway - and make sure you save enough dosh to make the Christmas bash! x

And not just writing any old guff, it's quality writing :) Nice one.
Nah, not going tonight - combination of skintness, and being a tad hungover ;) Am blaming that on Obama celebrations and having Bob's son round for tea last night ;D
Shame I won't be able to see these being performed. Are you coming to the Tyldesley thing that Jeff's doing? It's on 23rd November at the Cadence cafe. You could do the new ones :)

Thanks for your feedback Thom. The beauty of Small Talk was that I didn't have to rack my brains for too long about what I wrote - it just plopped out onto the page - if only they were all like that - brevity can be a blessing :)
I really enjoyed the dentist - I've never thought of the dentist in that way before - or God. If I were a God I think I'd whittle mouth back to gum in some places.

Hi Anthony, thx for looking at the Ted poem. lol. I am just getting over the man flu actually but this has no bearing on my use of rhyme. (It has happened before). Thx so much for your observations. Ramsons is indeed the correct spelling for the wild onion so common in Colden valley. Although there is no rhyme scheme as such there are lots of half-rhymes in this. I don't find 'spotlight' such a jar but will look agian. Many thx. Win

Hello Anthony,
Thanks for your thoughts on "Ape Shit". I'm not an animal liberationist myself but I couldn't help feeling there was something so fundamentally wrong with keeping apes (and other animals for that matter) captive.
