There needs to be more bilingual poetry out there such as this.

Welcome to WOL. I like your honesty. You will find many 'sad' poets here to match your current mood. But lots of cheerful and cheering ones too. After a bit, you might actually reconsider only sad poems. Or, at least, not so sad.
Keep writing. Neat little piece under your bio. I had to laugh. You have a good touch with self-humour.

Tia, welcome to WOL. You sure sound like a kindred soul, age notwithstanding. Writing, travelling, people, music and smiling - in a splendid nutshell. Totally agree.

Hi, Jennifer.
Welcome to WOL. I'm sure you'll enjoy the site. 'Where else can you find ...' is delightful. Made me homesick for Bermuda, the view itself and the creamy texture of your words.

I read your poetry- The parting. It is so beautifully written where all the words are carved in perfect combination of emotions, rhythm.

Welcome to WOL, Ankita. Poetry, your own and that of others, will be a huge gift inserted into your daily living. You are surely among friends here. We're not famous writers, but, like yourself, most of us are really sincere about the value we place on poetry as a fine means to share 'life'.

Hello Philip, I have truly enjoyed listening to some of your poems, in particular The Loss & Meet me There. Both your delivery and voice are superb as the reader is so comfortably invited into the scene. Thank you, I look forward to reading or listening to more of your work. Keith

That's so nice that you took the trouble to check my profile, thank you Cynthia. I hope in a small way it fleshes out what i'm generally trying to say on WOL! After a couple of years at this lark I am still surprised by lovely comments and try to offer a spark to other writers. We need to make a daisy chain and dance around poetry after all.

No voice is more real than your own, literally or poetically.
(Just did a recheck on your bio. There are so many fine works on WOL, I like to refresh my memory of the actual writers too.)

Welcome to WOL, Mr. Varden.
May! and you've written 70 poems already! Good grief. Your brain must be grateful for the release of so many ideas smouldering for so long.
'Truth and Lies' is powerful, like an erratic torpedo. You have a sense of the dramatic.
Please add your own comments on the work of other poets, however short. We all thrive on them. Even the 'LIKE' flower is appreciated.

Hi Philip
Thank you for your recent remarks on my page. Weirdly enough, I did a poem in January 2012 with the same title. I'm not gonna blog it but here it is:
WALK TO THE SHOPS
Slip into the sprinkle of a drizzle-filled day
Plastic bag crisp in hand, aiming for the shops
Feet to floor
Pavement pound
Carry on
Past the step
yellow tread
bearing Bulmers: lippy-stained
halfway drained
Pavement decorated in
a strange shade of sick
J’arrive at ‘The Parade’!
The Mean Street of Thatto Heath
Stench of piss and pizza
wraps itself around my mouth
as I kick along the papers
that cradled last night’s chips
Pit-shaved grinning princess,
billboarded, looks down
From within her perma-tan, she oozes
anonymity
Blinding me with bleachy teeth and peachy poreless face
I hope to fuck my DNA does not contain that kind of clean
Feet to floor
Pavement pound
Past the bus stop;
betting shop;
fag shop; tat shop;
takeaway; SALON;
takeaway; TANNING;
takeaway, takeaway;
CHIPPY.
Luckily:
‘health advice for minor conditions’ -
free inside the pharmacy
There’s no water in the fridges of the takeaway shops
And I didn’t want pop. They looked at me weird.
Social pariah, for wanting water.
Feet to floor
Pavement pound
Homeward bound
Past the salon
Chip fat alley
Tan tat fag bet bus
Ministering pharmacist
Past the step
yellow tread
Bulmers gone
Small red shoe there now instead
… wonder who..?
Tiny tatty lone red shoe
Torn too. Wonder if she’s..?
Nearly home
Nearly there
Rid my mouth of piss and murk
Home from hell on earth
a walk to the shops
and a musing or four
And then I recall
I forgot
what?
I went for

Hi Frances,
I'm home in WA at the moment, after seven months (whew!) away but I will be back in the UK early-ish in the New Year. The fact is that I have always hankered after a visit to Ireland, but never quite made it. This gives the perfect final "push" to do just that!
Many thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,
I don't know if you're at home in WA at the moment or visiting UK as you've said you will be doing both regularly.
So I wondered if you find yourself in Ireland or the Cliffs of Moher may I recommend you pop into a lovely little bookshop near there: https://www.facebook.com/TheSalmonBookshopLiteraryCentre/
If you have time and she's in - introduce yourself to Jessie Lendennie who also runs Salmon Poetry: http://www.salmonpoetry.com/about-salmon.php
She's mentioned she'd love to meet more WA poets and please give her my best regards. ?

Hi Cynthia,
I want to thank you again for your positive response to my poems. Your comments on my recent one really made my day, especially the fact that you came back for a second read. These WOL-ers really are a great bunch, very eclectic in interests, background, and ages. I'm really glad you've decided to join. There will always be someone to surprise and stimulate you.
IMO, joining in with comments is hugely rewarding. Or even using the 'Flower Button'.

I appreciate your interest and your comments. I always consider very carefully suggestions from fellow writers. And I have benefitted hugely.
But, in the case of 'The Dreamfooter', I would not now make alterations. It has been twice published and three times presented in spoken poetry 'programmes'.
I often make changes years after first 'writing'. Just not this time.
Thanks much. And, please, never hesitate to challenge anything I write. That is real 'sharing'.

Hello Cynthia. I've read a lot of your poetry tonight. Decided to. I like 'Hurricane' and 'The parting' a lot, pithy, focused, precise - though I'm not a descriptivist myself - but i think 'Dream footer' would benefit from being must less first person. I think it could be a great poem - reworked.

Welcome to Wol, Jana. This site is very generous in outlook.
I really like the sample you have shown on this page. For me, it shows a breadth of understanding and great sincerity. Not everybody can bring deep feelings into words.
Keep writing.
I'm thinking: what does she mean 'pin and pad'? And then it hit me. I'm guessing you mean 'pen and pad'. If I'm right, you might take a moment to fix it. If I'm wrong, I'd love to know what you do mean.
If that is you in the photo, you look quite young. But photos can fool 'big time'.
