Been there..on all fours in the loft...found a picture of her...then a ring...then one, two ten letters later I stand up only to split my head open on a beam... my heart was hurting more.
Well Done

Hi Sian,
I can smell the banana ripeness of the yellow, creased, tainted scraps.
My experience with banana boxes is that they always have a huge hole in the bottom often packed uselessly with old newspapers in the hope the files wouldn't fall through.
This works on more than one level for me personally so all in all i think it's a great poem.
Each time i read it though i couldn't resist placing 'by' in it. Time's gone by..
That's not a criticism, i feel it was left out for a reason :-)

Hi Andy,
I read this yesterday and i thought then, what a lovely poem. One which many people can relate to emotionally.
Today i read it again and it touched me deeply because of an experience i had last night, which left me feeling vulnerable. I could have done with a good old fashioned supportive hug.
So today your poem has a special feel to it for me because it shows there are people out there who care. Thankyou.

This is great stuff christopher - I had to read through a few times to tease out the best bits. It was a sad/rewarding/descovering process.

Very touching poem... I love the lines
'It showed me your true self. Innocent…….vulnerable……caring. And... 'experience the hurt, to appreciate the pleasure' ...this is so true...

No matter what was written before them (I particularly like the letters of hate and hope line) the last two lines are the bedrock of the whole piece. Strength and fragility. Congratulations.Graham

Hi Sian
We all have these boxes don't we, sometimes for years. I love some of the lines "flakes of roses, Creased tainted scraps" especially. Maybe it would be possible to hone this poem even further and give it more life (or in this case less life maybe) still. Keep posting Winston

Hi Alain, Great to see that there are plenty of gigs to go to in London. Bit far away for me I'm afraid. There sould be a better, more specific place for your (or anyone elses) personal gigs to be listed than in the Blog section here. And maybe there actually is (in the discussions are) What do you think?
Winston, good luck in the slams.

Hi Winston, Thanks for the comment about Different Dad. Sadly the "wahey" dad with all the moves is fictional, I'm a dad who doesn't think he can dance. Your group work in Hebden was really powerful - Excellent. Seamus.

Hi Christopher,
i rather like this, if that's the correct word for it.
Psychological scars can last a life-time but sooner or later they have to surface.
Bingo sounds like a super character to have known, someone to be proud of.
That's what stands out for me in your poem.
Is this a true story?

Hi Sian
...I cannot remember.... from one day to the next ...something to do with my reaching the ripe old age of 374...any way ..the jest of it was that.men as a hi bred species are delicate blooms...and are prone to wilting after excessive displays of vibrant exuberance....liken to my old and dear friend Rabbie Burns who's love was like a red red rose and after a wee dram or three was 'Inta Flora' like a wee timerous beastie up a drainpipe.
Great poem

Hi Sian, Thanks for your comment on "Not like the rest". It is a true tragedy, but sadly not rare enough. I was close to psychiatric illness for a long time and got to see lots of flaws in the system, I also saw lots of good bits but don't tend to write about them.
I've a new poem going up later which is much less serious.
By the way "One step behind" is lovely and lets the reader create so much of their own story around it. It could apply to so many people and relationships.

can you hide that mouse in my room please, although I like mice so I'd probably just feed it and make it a little nest in the corner..a snake or a rat might work..
i really like this..perhaps she was conducting scientific experiments with penicillin type virus' and seeing how many clothes she could manage not to fit in a drawer, this clever lassy..so maybe dads should keep out of girls' messy rooms for fear of breaking that flow of innocent curiosity, or maybe that used to be my excuses..sorry.. deb : )

hi Seamus, "Not like the rest" is a great piece of thoughtful and thought provoking writing and I can see from your other poetry that you have a keen insight and sensitivity to the subject matter. Having worked in the mental health service many years ago I can identify with the "tragedy" you speak of...there are too many people lost in the system some are lost forever. Sian x

Hi Win
Thanks for those heady comments...intersting hearing you breaking new ground...my own view is that multi poet performance must be stage managed and directed in no less a fashion than that of theatre...I suppose what I mean is that more rehersal would make what you want it to be.... I'm wafflin' now sorry ...I am a ware of the logistics that stop that from happening....Still loved it...
Yes I agree a great night ...in my view the best WOL venue.
Many thanks once again
See you soon.
