Beware the Flowers

Men are like flowers,

they burst into your life with the promise of Spring's new growth.

Men are like flowers,

they are vivid and glow in the radiance of Summer's sun.

Men are like flowers,

they drop their facades like petals wilted by the Autumn winds.

Men are like flowers,

they hide under the ground and hibernate during Winter.

Some men even return in the Spring -

Beware the flowers.

Hi Sian
...I cannot remember.... from one day to the next ...something to do with my reaching the ripe old age of 374...any way ..the jest of it was that.men as a hi bred species are delicate blooms...and are prone to wilting after excessive displays of vibrant exuberance....liken to my old and dear friend Rabbie Burns who's love was like a red red rose and after a wee dram or three was 'Inta Flora' like a wee timerous beastie up a drainpipe.
Great poem

Hi Sian,
interesting concept.
I did a similar one a while ago using one particular variety and its known qualities and lack of them. :-)

Men, women and nature. So inspirational and full of potential poems.
Good analogy with the seasons in yours too.

Sian, I guess the annuals look better but the perennials are more reliable? Clever and unusual analogy of us blokes I suppose. We need regular pruning to stay in shape. Graham
