this is a clever piece Jeff, short and sweet.

I think very many of us could identify with this one Anne. Haven't got round to getting any sleeping tablets yet - mainly cos I haven't got time to go to the GPs - I tend to wait until I have a few ailments and then blitz him with a package. Don't be fooled by that users on line box though. For every one user on line, there are probably another 20 not logged in.

Had another looka at this one and really like the structure. It made an impact without feeling 'forced' maybe it could be taken further or condensed into a 3 liner. I may have a go. The only weak link in this chain (and it does seem like a chain to me) is the line sounded bells. though I am stuck for something better. Is this a well known format? not seen it before Win x

Hi Ann - I'd endorse Greg and Christine's comments. Insomnia is a bugger, and this electronic universe we inhabit is a strange one - well done for being so open about it. The GP's given me some Zopiclone which works and has no side effects but I try to take it as little as possible. Take care

Don't feel guilty about your internet addiction, Ann - in case you do - we've all got it to a greater or lesser extent. And if you weren't online so much we wouldn't have such a sprinkling of wonderful poems from you. This one encapsulates something we all recognise. Keep them coming! Greg

Forgot to say when commenting on the lovely drawing that I like the poem too (the one with the camel). The well is at Madron in Cornwall, though the poem was inspired by Alsia Well, my fave well, but didn't have a picture. But I love all wells.

Hi Ann
Now why did I have a bet with myself that you'd be the first to comment.
I just fancied an antidote to the usual claptrap about Xmas

Who would have imagined that 2 poems could be posted on camels in one day? No humping going on in this one though eh Jane? The poem takes you into the imaginary world of children well - a magical tale with a lovely ending. That is what Christmas is all about. x

Hi Emma - thanks for printing your poem - it will do there. For future reference, all you have to do is go back to your original blogged poem, edit it and put WOLOP.nov or whatever month we are on, in the tag section, then press update. Your poem was nominated by another poet - I just collect the emails from people and publish the results - it was a good poem though. Hopefully you may like to get involved on the voting side next month - I am trying to drum up support. All you have to do is let me know your favourite December poem by 6th Jan. My email is farmoorgirl@yahoo.co.uk. I will send a reminder out on blogs beforehand though. Merry Christmas. x

HUMAN-3
Feelings piercing skin
Tensing bone
Nothing stored for yourself
control stolen, hope lost
the 5am struggle to sleep
Not a speck of time
to breath
Head space packed and swelling:
abusive ideas with heavy fists
bashing fragile flesh and tender mind
damaging and destroying
assembling self doubt
feeding insecurity
starving souls
Struggling to like yourself,
lie to yourself
and paint the world positive
cope with the shape of existence
cringing at lifes texture
And dreading!
the colour of tomorrow
Desperately Seeking logic
in rubble of feelings
miss-spelling life as 'shit'
searching and searching
for hope
rawness, tenderness on skin
pores constrict, hairs curl up
pain laqueres skins surface
expecting, anticipating
injury
until you are a shaking tiny ball
defenses finely tuned
and you sleep and dream
and hope and pray
not to wake

Thanks for reading Camel and I, Ann. My daughters best friend, Grace, does me the pics for my poems. I love them, too. I enjoyed reading Sacred Well recently and wondered if it was Mother Shiptons cave, Naresborough.

What a magical tale told from a child`s point of view. The repetition gives the feel of travel and movement, and there is some lovely imagery in here.

Just come across this Cynthia, it`s a clever one . It can be taken two ways depending on who owns the letter in the drawer. The fact that it is open to interpretation makes it compulsive reading!

It creeps up (or down in this case) on us once again. Happy festivities to you.

Of course Homeward Bound has a north-west connection, doesn't it? Was it Wigan or Warrington station Paul Simon was sat on? As an S&G fan and a railways buff I'd like to get it right

Beautiful.I love the line:
"You quickly jumped outside the frame
into a world just out of sight"
It captures the speed and surprise of death, not surprising that your visual imagery is intense , given you're a painter. I loved this and was left feeling comforted rather than sad. Also the photo reminds me of being in Meribel in the early 90's

Lovely stuff this,it had me laughing , (why is such a vastness called a 'mere') and then seconds later gasping in sadness. I really felt it. I also love the imagery, it had me right up on Beacon Fell. Thanks for the emotional work out.
