My Friend the Ghost

entry picture

Sleeping beauty lays eternal

My friend the ghost forever now

You chose to slip beyond the veil

In search of peace and peace you found

You quickly jumped outside the frame

into a world just out of sight

Though I still see you in the day

and in the blackened room at night

My eyes they failed to see the dark

A loss of sight, my vision blind

So very fragile was your soul

And deeply troubled was your mind

Dear friend take pity on me

For I did not here your tears

Though they rained on my pillow

so many nights, spelling out your fears.

So let us dance between these plains

Connecting stronger than before

And through the barriers unite

All worldly laws and rules ignored

Lets step inside each others souls

Wherein translation speaks in code

Breathe into me and I to you

A voice so deep it forms an ode

Please take me closer to this place

For on my own I don’t know how

Show me a way to bring you near

My friend the ghost forever now

To my dearest friend Emily

Beautiful.I love the line:
"You quickly jumped outside the frame
into a world just out of sight"
It captures the speed and surprise of death, not surprising that your visual imagery is intense , given you're a painter. I loved this and was left feeling comforted rather than sad. Also the photo reminds me of being in Meribel in the early 90's

Thank you so much for your comments on my poem about my mum, from one daddy's girl to another! It's taken me about forty years to realise how I took her for granted. I really love your poetry. I hope you will put some more up soon This one (above) touched me very much, particularly the last verse "for on my own I don't know how" indeed! I think it's the time of year, but I have been feeling very much in the past and sad because of it, the last few days, missing those who are gone. Hope you are happy, you sensitive soul. Lots of love AFxx

Dear Alison

The poem Tribute l written well, it touched my heart deeply. Sad when someone dear is gone to early. You have expressed the sorrow well. As if Janet picked the stanza, I like to say too. "Times heal the deepest wounds of loss." Thank you for sharing beautiful poetry.

PS: Thank you for the comment on my Contemplation poem.

Suicide is a shock to everyone left behind and those of us left can't help but feel responsible for not doing more. Nicely written tribute by one who was left, I feel it.

While this piece has a rhyming scheme it does not 'sound' blatant, in the fact that the contents, or the subject, is so intimate that it dilutes the rhyme. This is a very touching piece and one that stands out for its frankness and the author's ability to verbalize such thoughts.
Well done.

Time heals even the greatest of loss.
The bond of love grows stronger.
I'm only ever a thought away.
In you, i live for longer.
