A good portrayal of ignorance here i think but there are several other underlying meanings to this too. Another good 'un. :-)

Anthony, a brilliant poem. I've read what you said about the form, though I haven't had time to read the links. Whatever ... your poem works really well.

It's dark, of course, and menancing, and those repeated lines work really well. One of those lines contains the most important words in the poem, and perhaps in human life, "love" and "hope".

You've written here a great poetic affirmation of the truth that without love and hope humans are nothing. Great work, Anthony.

PS> I think the others are wrong. 'Edge' is way too good for the Poem of the Month slot!

As someone who visited Leningrad before it resorted to (one of) its former names, I appreciate this poem.

God's frozen tears as snow is a beautiful image. I used to think of rain as the Virgin Mary weeping over Earth, our vale of tears. It's very unfashionable to think like that these days but beautiful too.

Lovely, evocative poem - though there is a risk that the many atheist poets who use this site will weigh in with their dry, bitter, mystery-denying and pointless analysis!

PS. You got a literal in Red Flsgs!

And I think an apostrophe is needed ... winter's snow.

PPS I liked your Two Thousand Years poem too!

Have read this one a few times and kept meaning to comment - just had to work out what I wanted to say. This has the feeling of a narrative rather than a poem. So much atmosphere, tension, build up.... There has to be a chapter 2 but when an innocent child is involved - do we really want to hear it? The child engages us emotionally though and you manage to get us all wondering. Excellent work.

Neither would I like to impose an agenda on anyone. Hence the "rant", to express a disgusted opinion, to hold a mirror up to the world and persuade with guilt-trip tactics. Should anyone need to be told not to waste food?

I wouldn't call this a "rant" anyway, more a lament.

me I get pissed of with people implying or saying what I should or should not do, far to many people out there trying to impose their own agenda on to others you not think.

Thanks for your comment on my revisitation to Time Flues. I've eaten humble pie (a large portion) for CBT. Whether she's still my friend, I'll have to wait and see.
The funny thing is, the original version was quite different to what I would normally try.
Is there a home truth in that?

Absolutely love this Yolande!
Have read this several times...
It flows so well with the rhyme...

This verse is my favourite and speaks to the heart of vulnerability...

'Infinite possibilities there,
What to withhold or what to share.
Strands of viable outcomes meet,
Wait your permission before they seek
The path, or strand you then will take.
The random choice that’s now your fate'

I really enjoyed the last stanza too. Though enjoyed feels like the wrong word here.
This has an element of leaving what happened next to the reader which leaves me kind of stunned because of the imagery within the poem. Not sure if it's meant to be a sinister end but that's the feeling i got.

I promised myself I'd never do this, but a FRIEND (no names, no pack-drill, but her initials are CBT) said she thought the original needed a cull.
So, I've pruned it, and made one or two changes.
Is it any better? Who knows
I think I have to concede, I probably do.
Other opinions welcome.

Thanks again for your comment Cynthia. Have just printed off those definitions. It sounds very restrictive. If I get time I will try to apply some rules to my poetry. Read too many Mills and Boons as a girl - I just can't help writing from the heart. Applying rules is like putting rubber bands round it. How poetic is that?

How very sad but true. With a little time and patience though, sometimes they work out just as well. Might be a bit out-dated but at least they had the chance to be loved.
New can be equally difficult to get accustomed to and often break down just as the guarantee's run out.
