Thanx Graham & Poets Corner, every now and again something nice happens in the poetry world and to have one of your poems recognised by others is definitely one of them!
I'm delighted to have my Cotton Town poem featured in Poets Corner and your book, thanx for your support and kind words, hope to see you soon, all the best, Jeff

Hello MC
Glad you liked "Angel of Peace".
I agree so many people seem to fail to understand the fragility of democratic society and the nature of Peace.

Glad you liked "George Best" Tom.
The reason I hadn't bought the trousers was that choice was a bit limited in 42 inch waists.
But I could probably have got into George Best's shorts.

We could get a group of say twenty fit members
all go naked then run up and down the steps of the Art Gallery.
After finding out which pile of clothes are yours just swop mobile phone numbers.
The main topic on the next meet could be how many got inspired by the stand against whatever it was!!!

Hope to see you Saturday x

Thanks for your comment on my poem MC. I think I'll stick with bemoaned for now cos I wanted to get across the idea of grumbling - which I really did have to put up with! In the past children used to lay down and sleep by the roadside on the way home, so tired were they from the work they did in the mines. I think I would rather have suffocated mine at birth.

Glad you liked "Dedicated Follower of Thrashin", Dave. You really should busy yourself more if you've the time and inclination to look at my back catalogue!
"DFoF" is one of a number of disrespectful parodies I have been doing of late.

Hello again :) Shy my arse ;p Good to see you again.
Re 'Purple' - I'm sorry you bristled on the dementia line. It is not intended to offend, obviously. My maternal grandmother died of Alzheimer's after 10 years of suffering with it, so it's always been there in my mind. I've long thought that I'd end up with it, so to pretend to have it in order to fund some luxury by stealing from the corporates just tickled me a bit and cheers me up about it. It still is a genuine plan too - I know I will be living in poverty if I get to pensionable age, I have no assets, I'll never pay the mortgage off, and I come from a long line of poor people, so this seems like a nicely rebellious act for when I'm old and vulnerable.
Yep, you were spot-on re 'homegrown green' ;)

In the Manchester Evening News on Saturday
Stockport Council are looking at ways to save money this is one of them.
Nothing has been decided yet but sometimes they do this to see what the responce is from the general public.

Laura, thanks for noticing that I've been a bit 'absent'. It has been a busy summer. You are really striding forward now. I must try to be a bit more 'entry active' with so many opportunities to be chosen for publication. Basically, I think I'm shy. Would you believe it! Maybe it's lazy. But I turned down one opportunity because I didn't like the script size offered. And isn't that the opposite of shy! What IS the definition of schizo? :)

The denist brightened up my sunday morning at work, made me smile--I think we can all relate to what you have written in this amazing piece of verse .Every dentist should have this up on their notice board and patients reading it would smile and feel more relaxed in the torture chair.

It was reported in Saturday's Manchester Evening News.
The Art Gallery might have to close in the daytime - - - only opening at weekends.
We meet up every second Monday of the month at the Art Gallery.
This might not effect the various groups like us that use the Gallery.

Hello Isobel,
Me again.
Many thanks for your comments on "Be Ye There Or Be Ye Square". I do not wish to deter you from making the trek across the Pennines to visit us (Sept 8) but I'm afraid the festivities are not likely to include me taking my trolleys off.

Hello Sweet Pea,
Glad you liked "Crossroads Motel". My personal favourite was one called (I think) "Triangle" about a North Sea cruise ship. I think it aspired to the Caribbean cruise genre but the best bit was being able to see the goose pimples on the actresses purporting to be enjoying the sun as the boat bobbed around off Dogger Bank in an Arctic gale. (Incidentally, don't go looking for Dogger Bank!)
I hadn't realised that your poem pre-dated the actual rail announcement. That's very clever of you - a case of life mimicking art. Will you write me a poem about the Grand National next spring?

Hello Foxy,
I thought I'd thanked you for your comments on "Assasseen" but I can't find where I have, so apologies for the delay. I like what you say about omitting the apostrophe in brothers Kennedy which sounds a lot better (although there does seem grammatically to be a possessive in there somewhere!)

Hi Cynthia
I hope you're well - really missing your presence on here.
Just a quick line to say a big thank you for introducing me to the diamante form a few months back. If you remember, I wrote 2 experiments with it, and I have just heard that Haunted Waters Press have accepted the Scar one for online publication! So thank you again, and I really hope I'll see you around here again at some point.
Take good care
Laura x

Your assets are intellect and humour, an unbeatable combination. The money thing can sting, but 'financially poor' is a movable goal post. What some people call 'poor' these days I regard as quite adequate for creature comforts. I admit I peer with awe through restaurant windows at the hordes of people, especially families with children, who consider dining out a life necessity. No two ways about it though, I don't support the business cycle adequately. It's a conundrum. :)
