Two in the Morning

Profound sadness

clouds my view

at a quarter til two.

I don’t understand why

my muse avoids me like the flu,

when a simple poem or song will do.

Wise words to help me understand

why true love passed me by

in this lifetime.

Why wrong choices,

that felt right at the time,

left me alone in this abyss

where my better self

silently bears witness

to my shriveled soul.

I know in the light of day

everything will be ok.

So I’m wiping tears,

from this swollen face,

trusting God of love

to take my hand,

and lead the way,

to a safer place.

It's 5am, sometimes it's a question of timing when it's right and the universe allows it, doors open and two people embrace again, the bonds are always there my thoughts are with you to dry your tears, I send light to your darkest dreams, God is with you my dear, God is always with you and your ancestors are too xxx

Thank you M.C., Martin, and Neressa. ?

I recently watched the documentary "Marianne & Leonard" where I heard a quote that resonated with me, "Poets are elusive creatures who are married to their muse." It makes sense why we are often walled off from deeper relationships. The muse is an addict's high, lovers' lane, heaven and hell, the demanding relationship that gives as much as it takes.

Self-awareness
Finds that fairness
Is not a given in life.
In fact the opposite
Is the greater composite -
Ask any husband and wife. ?
(Keep fighting the good fight!)

Thank you Paul and Keith. Thoughts at 2 a.m. are not the most dominant, but they are often the most vulnerable.

This is a poem from a heart laid bare, crushed but hopeful. A very good poem in many ways.
Thank you for this
Keith
