Tom. Unsure about the audio player difficulty you have experienced as I have not messed with it (besides putting a buzzing sound on my front page). Maybe leaving a few seconds of dead space at the end of your original track may help? Good luck!

I like your style Cait. Original writing is hard and poetry almost impossible, at times. Good luck with your writing. You voice is subtle and nuanced. Nobody can teach you that. It's a gift, so work at it.

Hi Keith, thanks for your comments on The Artist's Desk. Much appreciated.

I'm with you, I only use my desk (the one pictured) very occasionally. Most of my writing has to be done on-the-go... usually on a train between London and Sheffield. I miss writing with a fountain pen, I find it freeing and inspiring in a different way to writing on a laptop; maybe because simply just 'writing' is so satisfying in itself it motivates you to keep going until you stumble upon the thing you needed to say.

I don't know why I'm so curious about the place people write; I'm not sure how much influence it has on the work produced but it still intrigues me. My previous poem 'Great Destroyers' was "written" by dictating it into Siri on my phone while walking down the street - which worked surprisingly well.

Thanks again, Tom

Susan, though not my role here on WoL, welcome, come on in, put your feet up and write, read, comment, like, whatever. I thought your poem, "Ann Marie", to be very touching, as well as your sample poem. I was raised by my sister, so to speak, so I felt the absence in the piece. Lot's of wonderful folks reside here. So enjoy.

Sophie, really appreciate your kind comments on my profile page. Nice to think that someone else shares the same view and 'slight' struggle to write while lacking full use of the English language. But nevertheless, we are both managing to get our writings kindly approved by the more word familiar so we are doing okay methinks and of course, improving as we go along picking up literary 'tips' and meanings.

I should imagine Sophie that like me there are times you possibly think to yourself ' if only I had had a better education where, in, the poetry world would I have been by now?

All my very best indeed to you.

Rose ?

No, there is no suspense here at all!

A Pumblechookian monster will be shervished by any half-way competent halberd-bearer loyal to the crown!

Surrender not! No, never surrender!

Fear is the ticking of a clock. The dawning of a day. The passage of the sun.
Fear is the growth of hunger, the resurfacing of thirst. Fear is time unplanned for....

Fear fears the planning of a day. Even that. Shervish fear forever!!!

That is brilliant, brilliant, brilliant! "Money-Go-Round," I mean.

Everything about it is delightful. I know it is difficult to write dialect, but yours is smooth and convincing.

Story telling, dialect, rhyme and romping rhythm.

I guess it was OK.

Having read mine, you know how delighted I'd be with yours!

I am so new, dare I make a suggestion? Well...You use "progress" as a noun in the second line. That requires stress on the first syllable. If you wrote the line with "progress" as a verb, you'd move the emphasis to the second syllable. Something like this: "Trying to progress,"

If I'm being gauche, I'll grovel.
