On ‘til all my breath is you’ - Thanks Tom! “Rendezvous” is a dear word that’s imprinted in my life-view from when I was 9 or 10 thanks to Richard Harris of “Golden Rendezvous” fame. 🙏🏻🕊🌷(rbk)

Hello Rolph,
I'm really glad you enjoyed the poem by Cavafy😊 The first verse of the translation is very good, but the second one isn't as close to the original meaning, so I found this one as well:
"Even if you cannot shape your life as you want it,
at least try this
as much as you can; do not debase it
in excessive contact with the world,
in the excessive movements and talk.
Do not debase it by taking it,
dragging it often and exposing it
to the daily folly
of relationships and associations,
until it becomes burdensome as an alien life."
(Lockert Library of Poetry in Translation)
Also, I'm adding a link to Cavafy's probably most known poem, which is worth reading I think:

Good morning Holden,
Your extraordinary biographical text in Greek in the form of a poem made me extremely curious, as it is very unusual, unique and special!
Was it translated correctly?
Greetings,
Rolph
"And if you can't make your life the way you want it,
this at least try
as much as you can: don't humiliate her.
"in the many contexts of the world,
in the many movements and speeches.
Don't humiliate her by degrading her,
by turning often and exposing her
of relations and associations.
the daily foolishness of her relations,
till she be as a stranger to a foreign fornicator."
C.P. Cavafy

poets are best when they just write, and don't try to be a poet.

Neither am I a fan of “counting” poems, John (Coopey). But I did relish the process and it’s result. Quite tough producing something under a set of restrictions. 🙏🏻 Thanks for dropping in and leaving your thoughts. Cheers. 👍🏻🌷

"Can I Be Frank" is a great title. I have always looked at poetry as good therapy, partly because it helps you search out the truth, and truth is healing.
