thanks Alan - glad you liked Gods Of War - not sure if you're a metalhead - but here's the recorded music version to be included on a new CD covering all the war poems I've published on WOL (some of the others are also accessible from the link and are more folk-orientated :-) https://soundcloud.com/the-man-at-the-back-1/armistice-gods-of-war

Thanks for the nice comment Candice.
I re-posted this piece as a sample of meaningless twaddle, that even I as the author can't find any sense in. I re-posted it in support of Phil Fletcher's recent comment regarding what he describes as PC "pretentious crap" I consider this to be a perfect example.
My own style of poetry is old fashioned, with an easily identifiable rhyming theme, and usually takes me anything up to a fortnight to compose. This one took twenty minutes

sorry mate - I'm in catch up mode as usual - not been on WOL for a couple of weeks - thanks for your kind comments on 'Gods Of War', it didn't get much of a response - you're right - maybe I post too much and too quickly, so folk feel a bit embarrassed to keep commenting - or maybe it's not that good - :-) - still, it's good enough for me - really appreciate you taking the time to comment

On Robin Williams - links in life even now.
Strange but an online check for Terry Wogan led
to a Parkinson clip - which in turn led to a 2002 interview by MP of both Robin Williams and
Stephen Fry. What value for money! Two amazing talents in action in one programme - now in a clip on Youtube. And so sad with the
knowledge of what has happened since. Perhaps it is just as well we have no ability to foresee the future.

Hello Mick - I too had a family member - a maternal uncle - who was killed in action in August 1916. Family research turned up stuff I never heard from my mother who was of a generation which kept its cards close to its chest when it came to what was talked about. My late father also served and survived through 1917-1918...and was in uniform again for WW2. To have endured and witnessed so much grief and suffering in a single lifetime is almost beyond my own comprehension.

Chris, I was moved by the poem 'There are no dead.' I'll read all your other work now after that. This poem spoke to me about how history was once written by the victors and is now an instantly forged account by those who posses the technology. Great poem.

Too sweet or

Early to bed
Hit the sack
