Biography

I am not English, I was born in Hungary, came to the UK in 2001. With hardly any English to start with, I have now learnt enough to be able to communicate fluently and explore the language. I have always loved poetry but I am a reader and avid lover of it rather than a poet. As a child I used to write the odd piece of poetry, but I never made a big deal out of it. I became a musician and I was more interested in picking excellent existing poetry and set it in music. Nevertheless, I have always envied those who wrote excellent lyrics. I had a few tries writing lyrics myself, both in Hungarian and in English and also pursued translating Hungarian children's songs into English for education purposes. This year love found me and my loved one is really arty and well-spoken, an undergraduate in English studies. What I feel for him and around him had inspired me to the point that I started to write the odd poems, and what is quite unique is that old super-self-conscious me dared to send these to him, who wrote poetry himself. (I have yet to see his poems!) So, this is me putting on a brave face and sending out these exercises into the public, using the big excuse that English is not my mother tongue, so it's not fair to criticise me! :-)

Hello Cecilia,

Welcome to Write Out Loud, we hope you are enjoying the site and we're really looking forward to reading some of your work. I know that you will be warmly welcomed by other WOL-ers too.

Thanks for having already uploaded a picture of yourself, it’s really good to see what our fellow poets look like.

Have a good look around, there’s always lots going on and if you have the time to make some comments about the work of other poets please feel free to do so, it’s often the best way to get some constructive feedback about your own work too.
There’s usually somebody who’ll help you out with any problems that you might encounter, so just ask and someone will get back to you.
WOL is a friendly, creative and unassuming place, so welcome from all of us once again.

The Write Out Loud Team.
