Really enjoyed the profile and the sample. The words truth and freedom mean different things to different people so though I also wish to run free and spread the truth I hope your poems flesh out your definition of these terms to you. If we coincide in views of what truth and freedom mean then we are brethren in arms but if we disagree on these terms we run as opponents.
However, once again, really enjoyed your sample and hope to find time to read more of your work.

Dear Suki,
There is some hero or heroin from a set of books my parents gave to me who was named Suki. I'm desperately trying to recall the story, but the name remains unmistakable.

Steve,
If you remember, talking after seeing your
play in Liverpool I found it difficult to describe a
play of my own, and said I might blog it on here.
I wrote it after wondering if it was possible to do
a mainly `static` kind of fantastic play which made
the audience have to pay more heed to dialogue.
I`ve blogged the first (short) scene and wonder if
you`ve had a look at it yet.
It`s intended to `set up` the dramatic elements of
situation, protaginsts, antagonist, and goal to be
achieved against which the actual aim of the play
(which was satire) can take place.
The subject of the play is `iffy` and - as I thought -
there has been no reaction, but I would welcome
your opinion as to whether you think this scene
`works` (purely as a `set up` to keep the actors
arguing and the audience wondering)
It`s William and Benjamin (blogged 1st Jan)
(If you are busy on other things now, dont worry
I quite understand)

Sydney, Welcome to WOL. I'm often off line for days. And then have a two-three hour splurge. You have a great attitude that will take you far in writing. Sharing and comparing is a fab way to improve your technique and expand your scope.
'Pilgrim palms' is very good; urges multi-faceted thinking of 'pilgrim'. The connotative power in one word is like a treasure house.

Hi Ray, I just want to thank you again for writing and posting Cursory Rhyme (fantastic title). I am deeply touched that you wrote it with my missing poems story in mind and the dedication was a lovely touch. Mike Hubbard genuinely made me laugh out loud (a LoL on WoL!), and I kept grinning for ages after.
Thank you my friend, I'll remember this thoughtful gesture.

For me, the most visually powerful poem amongst many was '75 Nights of Bombs'. I'm busy writing about my Pathfinder dad and WRAF mum...
Also loved SEGMENTS, particularly:
Hypnotised the cat rolling oranges
under tartan slippers’ soles.
To the knitting needle clack
of mum’s backing track.
So, thank you.

Pleased to 'meet' you, David.
'Your Chair' reminded me of my own Irish father and his favourite chair - which I'd not thought about... has now inspired. I enjoyed the close-up look and the dialogue at the end - all bringing him to life.
'Work Horses' was a clever (again) reminder of my dear old dad who could never, even after the war be accused of being 'out of work'. Again, you have inspired me to write about his heroic Pathfinder service which at the time was vilified and which he never talked about... then after his holding 3 taxi/bus driving jobs at once to feed my brother and Mum.
So thank you... I am very pleased to have made your acquaintance.

Hi Paul,
No problem!
I have been on here a couple of years or so now and when i first started out I had never written anything more than a haiku, and was completely against most poetry due to a strict education and an awful diet of shakespeare and wordsworth.
The encouragement i got from people on here has shaped my work, and i now headline poetry gigs, have a book out and have had a number one chapbook.
I put 90% of this down to WOL.
Cant wait to read more of your work
Stu

Hi Paul, thanks for the lovely words you posted on my profile page. Just so's you know, I will always get to see any comments that are left under a blog entry as I like to read and keep up with other people's takes and opinions.
And I agree, leaving and receiving feedback is what makes this site such a great learning resource. I sincerely hope my witterings are of some use as much as I value receiving from others in return. I am aware that I don't always get it right all of the time and am always happy to stand corrected. Writing is a continual learning curve and no writer ever finds the end. IMO of course!
Right, so I'm gonna come back at you now on your 'Sweet Victory...' comment hahaha ?
Cheers,
Col

Hi Louise,
Thanks for reading me.
acute mania is based loosely off of Howard blooms' commentary on violence being triggered by media (or not so much) in a short anecdote titled 'excersizing the animals in our brain' and, of course, the repressive, insistent, and destructive restlessness that comes with anxiety and compulsive disorders
Any entries with 'captain hook' in the title are conversational transcripts between me and a friend, or monologues written to them, or monologues written about them.
Ill be sure to take some time and peruse some pieces of yours as well, to return the favor
