Hello M.C. , .. thanks for your comment ... I wrote it very quickly while logged in here ... which concentrates the mind a bit ... it's about a real event where I failed, so I'm probably reading it stressing different thoughts to myself .. I usually leave well alone and don't edit endlessly ... cheers.

Hi Rick. I've read lots of your posts on this site, and am enjoying reading your book (which I took from the Doncaster Tap-- Thank you). I couldn't pick a single one out as a favourite, as they are all so good. but I must say, seeing them in writing doesn't compare to hearing you perform them. any chance of posting some recordings on here?
Cheers Kevin

The thoughts and feelings have always been there, in your heart and head, and now they come through your finger tips to make the 'written word'. Welcome to WOL, for a wonderful journey with other 'friends' who feel exactly the same - the drive to just 'share'. Once the pot is open the ideas and words just flow; it's quite an uplifting experience.
And the resource within yourself seems endless.
Welcome aboard.

Welcome to WOL, Manya. Your sample here is very interesting, and intriguing. Some fine imagery. I look forward to more poems. Poetry is a good outlet for thoughts, a kind of 'sorting machine' - good analogy that.
If you have many pieces backed up, it's probably a good idea to bring them into WOL at perhaps two a week. That seems to 'go down' well with fellow poets, rather than a flood of work all at once. Makes sense; it's a big site these days.

Hi Ray. Thanks for your comments on "Shut Thi' Clack".
I've been looking at, and listening to Stanley Holloway Monologues, since reading your comment. I'm flattered to be even mentioned in the same sentence as this great old master. unfortunately if you'd have heard me trying to read you'd withdraw your comment. I fell flat on my arse on my last two attempts. (something I'm going to have to work on)
Cheers Kevin

hi Keith, thanks for reading and commenting on "Shut Thi' Clack". it was based on an ex-service mens club we went into when I was in the TA. It was armistice day, but bingo still took priority, and we all had to sit in silence till it had finished. I found it funny how it was acceptable to talk during the turn though.
Cheers Kevin

Marianne I have only just read your profile with keen interest.
First of all if you have the craving to write -- just write. Let your voice be heard, irrespective of people's response to it.
Never let another person's judgement of your work affect you. Having said that WOL is a wonderful site with established poets who are both supportive and encouraging. So you're in good company.
You seem to have an inquiring, restless mind and that's a good thing. So bring it all out.
May I also humbly add that with every poem you need to have a "big idea' and then express them through engaging words.
C'mon let have the first one!
Raj

Welcome to WOL. I very much like your free ideas. And look forward to more. Do keep writing.
But, before actually posting, do a quick spell-check to weed out simple errors that may be only from the keyboard fingering. Posting makes a poem a 'written' or 'page poem' and presentation does count.

I've not been too active on line lately. IMO, 'Momentary Musings' is really splendid. I think you have a fresh but sophisticated voice, and a fine command of language. It's wonderful to read works where ideas are strong and sharing them seems to be both a real desire and a labour of love.
I find poetry as 'emotional dumping' very hard to read sympathetically. But I'm just me. Lots of people really like it, like voyeurism.
