Seventeen

California or bust.

Cruising the Mother Road,
guided by Arizona skies.

Soaring with the Eagles,
ZZ Top, and Dr. Hook.

Laughing with hitchhikers,
like long-lost friends.

Waving out the window,
to Albuquerque wind.

Strawberry wine, french kisses,
love on the horizon.

Smell of freedom,
between dust and rain.

Young, daring,
invincible.

Life never felt so Grand,

Luminescent Humanity

Every tragedy leaves behind

a trail of tears and

luminescent humanity.

Rona is here to teach us

life is fleeting.

Live in the moment,

don’t wallow in misery.

Celebrate the little things,

smiles, high fives, sunny days...

Dance, sing, be free,

alone in your room,

on rooftops, balconies,

wherever your spirit leads.

Mortality

Mortality stalks me
like a jealous lover.

Breathlessly follows me
wherever I go, incessantly
banging a gong,

chanting,

it won't be long,
come to me, let
the pain end.

My eternal soul sees

Becoming

If you become
what you think about
most of the time...

I am becoming
poetry, a lyrical
fantasy floating
in rhyme.

I am becoming
love and light,

Doing my best
to do what's right.

I am becoming
forgiveness
and peace.

Healing souls
like Wayne
and Louise.

I am becoming
who God intended
me to be.

Leaving a loving
legacy.

I am becoming
free.

Kings and Scribes

How easy it is to judge

from the throne of

self-righteousness.

How comforting to

cast off what

doesn't fit our

moral code.

Perspective is

colored by our own

evolution and lingering

insecurities.

The soul of a scribe

cannot help but

share truths

that set spirits

free, no matter

the cost of their

own liberty.
