The Five Essential Pillars Of Life

Health – The First Foundation
Without good health, the spirit dies,
No vision stands, no dream can rise.
What worth has freedom, wealth, or fame,
When strength is lost and body’s lame?

The sweetest song is lost to pain,
The fairest field brings naught but strain.
A feast of gold lies wholly bare,
When strength is gone, no savour’s there.

Health is the root from which we live,
The source of all that life can give.
Guard well this gift, the truest wealth,
For all is nothing without health.

Freedom – The Chosen Path
Without free will, the soul is bound,
No thought can wander, no voice resound.
A gilded cage is still a trap,
Though walls be lined in silver wrap.

The open sky, the endless road,
Are treasures more than coins bestowed.
Hold fast to choice, embrace the sway,
For chains once lost will not repay.

Freedom ignites the mind, the heart,
The spark that sets all life apart.
Cherish it, guard it, ever true,
For none can live if choice you rue.

Happiness – The Light Within
Without joy’s light, the world is grey,
No dawn can brighten up the day.
A diamond shines, a crown may gleam,
Yet hearts without delight but dream.

Laughter fades where sorrow stays,
And pleasures pale in endless haze.
Seek out the spark, the inner fire,
It lifts the soul and takes it higher.

Happiness is the quiet sun,
The glow that warms when day is done.
Nurture it, let it grow and shine,
For life without it feels malign.

Friendship – The True Bond
Without a friend, the road is long,
No hand to help, no voice in song.
A hall of mirrors shows your face,
Yet leaves you lonely in that space.

Through trials, storms, and darkest night,
True friends remain a steady light.
Share laughter, tears, and quiet ways,
They give the heart a home that stays.

Friendship’s the anchor, strong and deep,
A treasure that the soul can keep.
Value it, guard it, let it grow,
Without its warmth, the heart won’t know.

Family – The Heart of Life
Without one’s kin, the world feels cold,
No hearth, no tales of love retold.
A palace stands with walls of stone,
Yet feels as empty as a bone.

Through trials faced and joys we share,
Family holds with constant care.
They teach, they guide, they lift, they stay,
And give the heart a place to lay.

Family's the root, the tree,
The hearth where hearts find unity.
Through storms and calm, its strength holds fast,
A bond that time and trials outlast.

Thanks, Rolph.

My mother had a saying: "Your health is your wealth".
She was probably conscious that we were poor working-class people; my life having been saved at my difficult birth, in the year of the inauguration of the UK's National Health Service.

Now, our NHS is being sold off by successive UK governments to vulture capitalist enterprises; and, whilst we refuse to tax the rich to support it, we can still find the money for "Forever Wars", but NOT for hospital wards.
Time for revolution!
