Thank You
Every song has a river
every boat has a name
every being has a purpose
each purpose is the same
When I said I'd die for you
I was really already dead
those tears cried of sadness
were tears of emptiness instead
When you said you'd write to me
the writing was on the wall
I'm not really waiting
silence on a deaf ear falls
When I said I miss you

Poetry is Regional
You may think it’s blank—
Or even free—
Verse, but you may be
Unfamiliar with the voice,
The accent, the dialect
Of the author.
You don’t see the rhyme
If you pronounce things
Differently. And you may miss
The meter, if you speak with
A different cadence.

Boy what a Lady!
I saw her standing on a crowded train,
a beautiful face and a perfect frame.
With oriental features and flawless skin,
was this superficial or was there beauty within?
She caught me looking and to my surprise,
she smiled and looked directly into my eyes.
I felt transfixed and my heart took flight,
is this what they mean by 'love at first sight'?
As the train ...

The Fight
Pink, Red, and orange
fade to black
and I take cover
hiding under the bed.
Laying with the demons roaring
screaming attack
I thought he was a lover
but he just needed to be fed.
Bigger than this body,
stronger than these bones
Crack
echos as the bones snap.
My ears ring with bawdy
words of meancing tones.
Wack
as he finishes his tap

Becoming
If you become
what you think about
most of the time...
I am becoming
poetry, a lyrical
fantasy floating
in rhyme.
I am becoming
love and light,
Doing my best
to do what's right.
I am becoming
forgiveness
and peace.
Healing souls
like Wayne
and Louise.
I am becoming
who God intended
me to be.
Leaving a loving
legacy.
I am becoming
free.

No Rush
I think we can be something special,
So let's just take it slow,
And wait until we're ready,
To decide where this goes.
There's no need to rush,
Because I'll always be here,
Today, tomorrow,
For the next million years.

Write Anyway
So it's cliche,
write anyway.
So it's not
gramatically correct,
write anyway.
So it doesn't rhyme,
write anyway.
Don't let judgmental
"experts" distort
your perception
of poetry
or silence
the part of
your soul that
longs to make
sense of life.
Just write
any way!
