Belated thanks for you comments / analytical thesis on my poem 'Fizz Bomb'. Glad you liked. Very interesting to see the poem described in your terms. A lot of my poems slide into a quatrain format, I wonder why 4 seems a comfortable number of lines. 4 doesn't seem like a very natural number to me? The main way in which this poem changed in its re writing is the addition of the last line of each stanza which seems to work well and as both you and Harry point out has a long vowel at most ends (Which I hadn't realised I had done!). It is a love poem of sorts, childhood love or love of a child, maybe? I think I will leave school teacher but have changed a typo and the selotape line to make more contextual sense. Thx again. about errant bike-riders...I see too many of them when I go out and about and there really is NO excuse for some of their antics. I have
described them as "pedestrians on wheels" as

Hi MC - have to say I enjoyed all the ripostes to my poem, but I decided against posting another riposte as no one wants it to go on forever!
But if any good has come out of it, I now walk on the left of the towpath and allow loads of room for cyclists coming up behind. :))
The main problem with mooring a boat, though, is that you actually need the whole width of a towpath to moor it, so I would only ask that cyclists remember this. (By the way, it was others who were apoplectic, not me! haha.)
As for your little ditty about cyclists wanting highways and byways, I would be completely all for it!!

You know I love the poems and prose of your childhood, as always beautifully observed- not something remotely easy to achieve.

In terms of poetry and venues, it is just people being precious and egos, it'll all die down eventually.

I read with great interest of your current battle related to all things venue and gigs over on the wirral and Liverpool. Sounds as if I should be over to support you... whats going on???

you were very much inmy minds eye when I was writing this piece insofar as you have always shown a great interest in my prose.

The boy was on his way to his Auntie, with the intention of running away and hiding away from for ever in bungalow. There were not many circus on the Isle of Wight.
