Your second sample is an amazing read with words weighted and tethered by heavy emotion. Very well done.?

Hey d. Knape, thanks for your lovely comments on The Spaces Between. I wrote it after many days of visiting my Dad in ICU so it is an important part to me. Events like that make one realise we have very little control. I really appreciate your feedback.

I always say mothers are gods in the eyes of their children, and when the day is done, sometimes our words are the ichor that's left running from a golden leaf onto an imprint of our memory. Hope you don't get tired of me saying so - but your stuff is a helluva read!

Thanks for your comments on Jazz Martin, I'm a huge fan of jazz and used to play in a jazz band through my teens and early twenties. This particular piece was about a performance I saw by a group at our local conservatorium. The group was young but inspired, and the singer captivating. A moment that warranted capturing. ?

You have some good pieces added so far. If you're looking for some pointers, the best I can say at this point is to never be afraid to add more adjectives into the mix. Sometimes all it takes is the right one. Welcome to Write Out Loud though and either way, you'll find your footing.

Thank you for commenting on The Book, Ray.
I had very similar thoughts myself.
The TV screen is a distraction.
It does not draw me in the way a book does. The concentration needed to read, I believe is the secret to its ability to soothe and calm the inner self.
Excuse the rant.

Hi John
Mark Sheeky Poem: think I'm supposed to send it to you:
Mark Sheeky Painting
G473a
She’s cold.
She’s almost drowned out the sun with
her tears; they did not stop for days:
see that sun almost falling from the sky!
The black menace in the corner is
a frightening reminder of her
desperate journey.
The sea was cold.
Yet…
It is still the same sun
and it hasn’t fallen from the sky.
And she sees the flowers
and she loves their vibrancy.
They are from the earth and she
is on that same earth, and
not on the leaky boat now.
She takes the mug of tea
from the kind lady.
She is safe.
Part of her aches for happier
yesterdays.
Her youthful, aged heart sighs and
begins its crippled recovery
towards a slowly blossoming
new hope….
Dorinda x
