Glad you enjoyed Back Fat - thanks for the chip comment but not this one not autobiographical (unlike the beastiality material). I've just noticed your OCD poem - gutted - I'd already started penning the stuff about only having the volume control on even numbers and having to tap your left hand if you tap your right, but then you need to go right, then left, then right-left-left-right...etc... all of course comes with dire consequences if you don't.
There's no hope for me....

I wanted to set my stall out early, in terms of being free in what I write about. Free from having to stick to form or what the idea of "good" poetry is. I'm pretty happy so far.

I'm hoping to just get people commenting the work. Any chance of you commenting directly on the "fat girl" poem. Would love your views on it.

I'll run my eye over your work... you seem really popular.

After some reflection, I changed my final comment on 'I wish I was...' I think we maybe do meet halfway. I do like your poetry Gus - I think it brings out the man in me - is that cos I had a very strong mother and a weak father or is there a man in every woman just waiting to get out? I'll have to ponder that one.

Hello George,
I've just been reading through your poetry and love your writing style. It is a little surreal at times but that is what makes it so appealing. I particularly like Frank, stop it. How did you come up with that title?!

Thanks Winston.
Never expected such a reaction! Wrote it as a homework exercise. Ie. to write a piece in imitation of, or responding to the work of Walt Whitman, it being his 190th birthday this May. He wrote a piece called Salut au Monde. I thought I’d see what would happen if I didn’t mention Whitman in my blog. Found it very hard to get my head around his style, fortunately the safe delivery of a little grandson provided some inspiration.

Hi again - reading your work it occurs to me that you might like the work of some 60s folk/protest singers - and in particular, Phil Ochs.
Ochs was one of the people that inspired other songwriters (most notably Dylan), as well as his listeners. He had a very journalistic style, and wrote with wit and intelligence - I think you'd appreciate his work.

Chris and Win

My first experience of Prestwich was approximately fifteen years ago, which is, as no doubt you are both aware a predominately Jewish area of northern Manchester. I have since learnt that the main objective of all Jewish women who are love with you is to ensure they feed you… constantly.

Finally whatever the circumstances her Mother will never approve of … anything.

Thank you for reading it’s very much appreciated

Gus

Your 'lifelines' ... a marvellous evocation of love lost, the cruel sea and the beautiful land of Cornwall.

Loved these lines, among many, Anthony ...

'her days, her nights are one, the same -

a gift of darkness borne by grief

to wounds already salted well.'

And the mention of Lamorna...oh,that walk from Mousehole to Lamorna along the cliffs never fails to blow me away with its beauty! I must get down to Cornwall again soon.
