Hi John, 'A Winter's Tale' ta for commenting. Perhaps this starts off the silly season prematurely - had to get something in hand for a poetry group reading (Christmas bash coming up all too hastily). First attempt at a monolgue as MC calls it. Have left a similar comment on my blog. Cheers.

Thanks Andy for the great comment on In Hope of Wonder..sometimes the clipped lines are needed to create a mood..and this was sposed to be disjointed anyways like a flit of thought.

Thanks for commenting on In Hope of Wonder.. I was trying to set the scene, the mood with the first half..it is meant to be disjointed and I used the short lines for that purpose..As when you are looking at something..seeing without any real focus and thoughts flit through your mind?..no?..perhaps its just me Ha!!

Thanks for your comments onn BSA Bantam, MC. I suspect your Black Vincent mate has a bit more mechanical know-how than me. He may have trailed all over the world but I trailed oil all over South Yorksire.

Hello Greg. Thanks for your thoughts on BSA Bantam. I always preferred riding the bike to being pillion, which was terrifying. I once sat at the back of my mate doing a ton "daarn the Saaarf Mimms" on his Honda Goldwing. I opened my eyes when we got there!

Thanks for your comments on BSA Bantam, Nick. I still remember its reg, KET 28F. I think it was a 1968 model.
My worst memory is overtaking (very, very slowly) a pack of kids on Fizzies (those souped up Yamaha mopeds) and being chased by them. A set of traffic lights saved me as I got through them just before they changed.

I checked out the rest after reading Obsollete Airline Beverage. I particularly liked Your God is Angry with You.
You should check out MC Newbury's stuff. I think you'd appreciate it.

You're better off with an oldster in a motorised cart, tartan rug and all, than a gorilla swinging a golf club! I think I go
with the wit who described golf as "a good walk spoiled".

Hey, thanks Cynth for your note on Biblical Imbecility, glad you liked it :) Yeh, kind of what I was getting at,the lunatic interpretations of what is essentially a bulgy-eyed hysterical part of the whole - although have to say some of it's great! Was thrilled with the 4 horsemen!

Thank you for your lovely comments on my poem 'De-friend...'. Yep, I too have fallen victim to the curse of being a facebook parent. For some reason, my daughter is always very unimpressed with my postings :) When I get to the stage of facebook grandparent...I hope to have just as much spirit as the star of my poem.

Hi John.
Thanks for your comments on my "A Small Story about a Small Town"
I actually got the idea for this watching the History Channel's "Life After People".
Although I did grow up in very small towns.
About recording my own poem, I don't know, I make too many mistakes.
Thanks
Shirley

Hello Isobel, thanks for reading "Two Minutes"
I wasn't intending to write something about the 11/11 weekend (hence the lateness) and after writing it down as experienced, still wasn't sure.
There had been a short clip on our local news of a line of soldiers "going over the top" and one particular lad was felled almost before his legs had trod out of the trench.
It left me feeling hollow for a time.
Luckily, if that is the right expression, I didn't lose anyone in either of the two world wars so have never felt a real connection to it, other than a shared grief and remembrance.
But I couldn't get the picture of that lad hanging there out of my minds-eye for a long time. Regards, Graham.

Hi Alana,
Thanks for your kindnesses... 'smote' is as in the past tense of the (old english?) verb 'to smite'. Technically I think it means 'to hit', but the verse is intentionally overwrought and pretentious so I thought the malapropism appropriate. Enjoyed your profile samples although I haven't read them all yet. Will leave a comment or two when I have. I've not been active on the site for a long while. Time to get back into the swim.
Take care
Tim

Hiya, John - safely back home eventually - what an epic trip back you had last Thursday!
Thanks for your comment on "21...". Yes back in the 80s (giving it all away here!) there was still some industry around then. And always the wind. Britain's Chicago!
