Hi Nick
Just come across your poetry. I love the diversity of them. There's some great imagery in your poetry. I particularly like the start of 'Pathway' and 'Epiphany On The Edge.' 'Reed' is another great poem.

thanks for your comment on 'vermin' Lynn - it's one of the few things that gets my goat, when man thinks he can apply morals to animals and then kill them because they don't act 'human' grrrrrr lol :-)

the sonnet as straight-jacket - eh? straight-jackets can be fun if you don't mind taking your time to get out of them - i'm thinking of going on a 'form' rampage over next month or so and really getting into some of the less known structures etc - if I don't escape the straps before I drown, it's been nice conversing with you ;-)

Thanks Alex. I still can't see my profile picture - why is it I wonder, that everyone else can see it before I can?
The picture is the sign in front of an old derelict care home, walking distance from where I live. It's been derelict for years now and I'm amazed no-one's built houses on it yet - it's only a question of time - but I see beauty in the emptiness and the history - I shall really miss it, when it no longer exists.
The more the merrier at the Tudor - I'll be flitting around cos I'm compering and I have a number of family members coming along for moral support. I believe Laura is going though and a few others you must know by now :)

Thanks for commenting on The Introvert, Laura. Yes, introverts can behave in extrovert ways and vice versa. People are full of surprises - for others and even themselves. The basic distinction is whether someone tends to spend energy or gain energy by being with people. But even that can vary can't it.
The final line was intended to be enigmatic and raise questions. The introvert's response to a roomful of extrovert friends enjoying themselves can be complex. Of course the introvert wants his/her friends to be happy. But.....

'clear blue air' is classic Laura - describes that feeling perfectly - 'beghilos' is very good too - those bloody calculators eh - spent many an hour messing with them when I should have been learning maths :-)
"separated at birth" I think I would have got the better deal out of that Laura - unless you want to double your body weight and take a wack or two with the ugly stick :-)

Aye, it really must be an age thing. And economic too, almost certainly - it is more expensive now than it's ever been apparently.
Ha - maybe we were separated at birth?! I wrote a poem about needing to be alone a couple of years ago - link here. Its alternative title is 'Just Shut The FUCK Up!' ;D

Zeitgeist Heist is genius. How the hell did you manage to get THAT volcano name into a poem? And a Raoul Moat reference too. As someone who grew up in the very street he did his killing, can relate to that and so much in that poem.

Thanks Isobel - yeah, I'm not having a great spell so far this year, I have pain management issues from old spinal injuries that flared up. Nothing to do but drift through the chemical fog until they subside so I have some clarity of thought. But glad to be back and have something to post again. :) Best wishes, Dave

My dad was a wagon builder in Preston during the war Harry. There was bomb damage to the roof of the factory where they worked, which no-one could spare man time to fix - so the men worked in the freezing cold. And yet his aunt would get flak from one particular neighbour because her son had been drafted whilst my dad was in a protected industry. You just can't imagine what kind of turmoil people lived in - or what it must have done to their minds.

Isobel,
Thanks for the comment on the war one (I messed up posting it) I wish I could have done justice to that episode about us all dragging the fuel wood past the grounded barges in procession along the frozen sliver of the breached canal - It truly was like a scene from Doctor Shivago` (The wood was case-wood from the bombed factory where-eventually - I would work.

You`re right about the medal, that custard was well worse than the bombs.

That's great news about your son Alex and thanks for the comment on my poem.
Lack of sleep is a killer. I find the best way of getting a reasonable night is to switch off computers and watch T.V. That way you don't have ideas and thoughts buzzing round in your head. I try to restrict WOL and the internet to daytime now, with the occasional lapses which I pay for...
I understand what you are saying about the Tudor. You take care now.
