Steve. Thank you very much for your very kind comment on 'Croc.....' There is nothing like a good 'rant' and that was nothing like one! (Note to self... must get more angry sometimes).
In respect of 'Facepest' a friend shared/re-posted your poem 'This will be a re-run' before I saw it here. I have to say it is a most appropriate piece of work which tugged at my heartstings and oozed nostalgia. It then left me with that big personal fight with social conciousness. Superb!

As we have the Purple Six heading for Stockport

Very kind of you Stu, regarding Shepherds Bush W 12. Not an easy poem for obvious reasons, but you have graced it with an astuteness of thought.
Simply personal history I think is worth conveying, judgement to be left to others. I know you feel the same. Life moves on and experiences may be valid at a certain time.
Cheers. Ray

Your comeback is totally brilliant, utterly confusing, very cathartic. I shall treasure it.
The child in your photo is very beautiful, like the portraits of many mediaeval 'Mary's', all big, clear eyes and rosy lips in a pale face. It could be a boy, but same comment - no difference. And you don't look so bad yourself, of course.

Tommy is thinking:
why do posters
refer to themselves in the third person.
I have tried to,
so has himself.
When both are speaking
in the third person,
he himself, finds,
that they are himself,
asking themself why?
Can two people converse
in the third person?
Tommy finds it difficult
to quote directly from
a third person's point of view
while speaking to the third-person
themselves.
We wonder if one's first-person
obligates the second-person's
directly attributed pro-noun.
I myself think that we should
-Tommy is speaking directly
here-
avoid all confusion
in such matters
by using the first-person
when writing or speaking
to the reader,
as one will find that
he or she wonders
if they themselves
are also confused.
Yours (or is it ones)
Tommy Carroll (himself).

Hi Cynthia,
Thanks for popping by and leaving your comments on Leisure. The original by W.H.Davies is one of my all time favourites too-many a time those are the words which spring to my lips when stood in a wild and windy place. And his first book,Diary of a Supertramp has been an influence on how I've led my life since first reading it forty odd years ago. But 'massacre'? That was not the intention and I believe that Davies would've approved.

Hello Jade
First off, good to see you back. And secondly, thank you for reading, commenting and relating to what I wrote. I go into strangers' worlds, imagining their lives, and getting vicarious thrills tiptoeing around in their stilletoes, watching the world through their eyes.

Hi Pat,
Thank you for your kind comments on Nobody Cane. It was very very hard for me to post it. I felt I was exposing my inner most self so had to take it down.
I am so sorry to hear about your step father. Not easy dealing with things like that, is it!
Cheers,

Cynthia thanks for the response. I sometimes write in the first, second and third person in a piece when I wish to engage then disengage the reader. I am aware of this and its limitations and of the frustration that can ensue. The third person being unannounced. An example of a form would be "Tommy Carroll (himself)" simple but twisting. However I do have some but I would have to read again with greater attention ( I have just finished rereading (skimming) all 300 ( approximately) of my pieces...
I try and flip those pebbles into the pond Cy ;-)

thanks for commenting on '...the monkeys paw' Harry - hope you are keeping well and the resting up worked.
I rather liked this eerie little piece myself, but as Cynthia noted it would appear only the two of you did. I'm finding myself on Write Out Loud less and less these days - hopefully will get he time to spend a bit more time here = the plus side is I'm gigging a lot - so - hey ho :-)
Keep well mate

thanks once again for your kind comments on '...the monkey's paw' Cynthia - I rather liked this one, but - as you say - it would seem not many others did. The Monkey's Paw was a chilling tale that whoever held it had 3 wishes but, of course, those wishes didn't turn out exactly as their 'wishees' thought they would. Quite a good analogy with George Osbourne's defeat in the Commons I thought - ah well

Michelle, I would stop making comments completely if I considered them to be 'reviews'. Where would I get the crust? I like the idea of talking together, informally, and often helpfully. Anyone can take my own work apart totally, which has happened frequently, to my delight and improvement. I always consider the points or options suggested and do make relevant changes.

The Staleybridge poems look great - my personal favourite is 'Somewhere Else'.
As for the Paris massacre, the real question is 'why doesn't it happen more often?' Many urban districts in Europe (the UK included) are full of hate-filled, disenfranchised and alienated young men with nothing to lose. Little wonder they seek out 'causes' to fight and die for - indeed, I suspect we will witness more of these atrocities in the months ahead.

I weep for you, Paris,
Every beautiful boulevard,
Every humble street
Whose pavements so often have welcomed my feet –
Every drop of blood shed;
Every beating heart dead;
Every au revoir said –
Your heart-beat is mine, too:
Paris, I weep for you –
And WE say to hate: you will never destroy
Good. And we SHALL sing for joy –
This, I will ever recall –
But, for now, my tears fall…

Do you mean 'traveller' as in the word ''gypsy'? Or someone who simply 'travels'? Not sure there is a difference.
'In Absentia' is also really good. IMO, you have the touch of the 'artist', a gift which I think is very rare among writers. It's not just originality of ideas, but also their unusual association, and the power of diction to express these relationships in a meaningful manner.
Always just an opinion, and always with respect - always.
