Clear Blue Air

Withdraw

Recharge

No need to respond

No talking

No noise

Just silence

Purity found in clear blue air

Sunshine on freckles and wind in my hair

Blocking out

Blanketing

Breathing in deep

Clinging to emptiness

Found on the brink

To talk is to torture

You butcher my peace

Chatter incessantly

Shattering harmony

Feckless inanity

Endlessly clattering

tongue against teeth

Grinding and smashing

integrity, sanity,

peace and tranquility

Just going on and on, on and on, on and on

Just going on and won’t leave me alone

to withdraw

and recharge

with no need to respond

no talking

no noise

just silence and sunshine

and wind in my hair

and purity found in the clear blue air

Hey Laura!
Graet poem! Crafted for reading aloud. I can sense anger, frustration, and relief inthis one.
Nicely read too! x

I really didn't appreciate how good this was till I heard it performed. It's one of those poems you just have to hear. I would say that it is exceptional - for me the best serious poem I heard last night or that I've heard in a long time. x

Elaine's got it with that word fierce - a sort of Trappist ferocity, which would never harm anyone. Great.

Ah, lovely, Laura (and lovely Laura!)and also full of the fierce desire to protect your right to non-communciation - not to have to explain yourself, tell your story over and over. Oh yes I do know this so well. Wonderful suprise to see this poem and to see the date of it too! XXX

Great stuff Laura, not read your stuff for a while (or many others for that matter, always up to sumat!). Anyway, this is excellent and can imagine the rhythm you do it as I read, if you know what I mean!

Look forward to seeing you at tyldesley, be good to hear this or any for that matter, your performance poetry is top notch! Jeff X

i like it.. it does convey the feeling well the incessant nature of disruption. cant help feeling the inherent contradiction of writing a poem like this..why not go out and stop going on, get the wind in your hair or something, im talking here ;)

i believe the secrets of meditation can only be found in practice, but the simplicity of the colour blue in this poem can be a release x

You have captured the feeling well... So annoying - isn't it?!
'To talk is to torture
You butcher my peace'

When I go to the beach... : )
'just silence and sunshine
and wind in my hair
and purity found in the clear blue air'

This has a nice gallop to it - broken up a bit by the 'going on and on and on and on' bit. Perhaps that is the effect you were after. I get the feeling of a horse champing at the bit to get away. Won't go on anymore ;-) x
