Do We Do Nothing?

Do we do nothing

But stare at the sky?

Do we do nothing

But avert our eyes?

Do we do nothing

But stifle our cries?

Do we do nothing

But conform to lies?

Or, could we become

All we can be?

And settle the wake

Of this turbulent sea?

And rise above waves

And rise above fear

And shout at the sun:

"Look! we are here!"

And inhale its rays

And exhale its light

And till the dark earth

To show its true plight

And build new horizons

And give birth to dawns

That outshine the darkness

And banish dark storms

For one day we'll be

The starlight of time

Which, briefly awoke

To make the earth shine

I've been off of WoL for a bit and this is the first thing that caught my attention. This is a great one. Well done!

Aviva, Julie, Keith, Holden, YRP & John. Not had much time for poetry lately, that little thing called 'Life' getting in the way! 😆But, hope you are all keeping well!
(& Julie, me too, but don't tell anyone 😉)

Stephen,
This is a fine example of poetry written with a strong flavour of dissent. A forthright piece of writing. I enjoyed this
Thank you
Keith
