Busted Jag

Sliding through the fog with your

Illusions of finery

I saw the check engine light when I got in

But your cracked windshield distorted my vision

All I could see was how I felt when

Your leather interior

Hugged and kissed

And caressed my body

The cute dates at cute restaurants

Sangria and Seafood

Lies covered in parmesan cheese

Lying about past lives

Lying on the beach

Lying on your bed

Lying to myself

How long have you been trying to outrun your demons in that busted ass Jaguar?

I see your pain

Your life is empty

You live as though you have to trick people into loving you

How long has your check engine light been on?

You’re finding it harder to get by on your good looks

Your tires are wobbly

You feel time creeping in with every pothole

Designed to excite the senses but you leave much to be desired

How long was I willing to ignore it?

How long was I willing to entertain your dysfunction?

It just

Felt so

Good.

You gave me something that I haven’t had in a long time

I ran with it.

Fast as hell.

With your cracked windshield distorting my vision.

This is not written by an aspiring poet but an accomplished one. Really really good.
