I certainly did mean "thong" : )
Reminds me of a preamble by Noel Coward to his song "A Bar on the Piccola Marina" when he refers to "hordes of middle aged women all determined to have a ball".....
Thanks for your comments Cynthia and your continued interest in my stuff.

Hi Graham, thanks for your comments on Holiday Romance. In my mind, the potential 'victims' were naive teenagers, that is, if such an entity still exists.

Thanks a lot MC for your comment on my debut rhymes . I'm still trudging my way around the site like a fly through toffee.I have to say that I particularly enjoyed your sample 'Thoughts at Christmas' . I'm a sucker for rhyme, as it's all I really do. I'm sure you've heard this before, but that poem is so perfectly balanced in rhyme and meter, with a strong and poignant message.

Thanks for the comment on my poems Dave.I'm just finding me way around the site at the moment. It's a bit like Liverpool. One false turn and you're completely. lost. I was particularly drawn to your depiction of Churchill. You've certainly got him banged to rights. The last line is so significant. Everyone turns their back when schools over.

Hi Cynthia! good to hear from you. Glad you liked 'Tuesday' sorry the ambiguity is confusing. Its partly because the situation the poem refers to is confusing and I felt that needed to come over-I dint intend to confuse readers or listeners. That uncertainty is tangible and could be a good thing maybe..? Im glad you like it. I love that you feel it has an electric feel. I love getting your feedback. you are so supportive. Thank you. I will be back to you to read your work here. would love to get to sale and chat to you. :o) em

Alright Cynthia?
Yeah i did see the documentary, purely out of boredom and a liking for Sue Perkins though. I'm not too fussed on the guy's private life, i only care about his work. I get a lot more out of it. Also thank you for commenting on my stamina, i try my hardest :).
As for the idea of drawing the reader into the writer's ideas, I've always found it more effective to write something that is true to myself and that pleases me. If other people relate to it or enjoy it that's grand, if they don't no point losing sleep over it right?

Thanks for the comment on 'The Cock and Bulldog Inn' Graham, and sorry if i crushed the romance for you but i've never been good at that kind of thing. But if you are into Dickens i've put one up about him to celebrate his 200th birthday, You'll be able to tell which one it is from the title.
Kind regards 'n' all tha'.

I just wanted say thanks and acknowledge the impact your comment made to my poem 'The little things destroy us'. You are always honest and have an owls eye for what works and what doesn't. I have changed it now and its very tight with a new stanza on Thatcher.

Hi Cynthia, again belatedly, many thanks for your comments on 'Night Sights'. This born out of being around in the early hours with an organisation helping young drunks. Not intended to be a prize winner, more a diary entry. Kind of you comment though. Much appreciated.

It reminded me of the song Nowhere Man, maybe that's not Peter, Paul and Mary!It just seems people like that are easy targets, shooting fish in a barrel. I'd have liked more of the sort of stuff you have in the first verse.
I don't mind no punctuation, some poems are better for it. I just notice it when a poem is neither one or t'other, commas but no full stops.I think Isobel does the same thing. No big matter.

Sorry, Laura, just discovered that I posted this on my own profile!
Hello Laura. I've been using Poet's Graves for about 3 years - only place I can get a decent night's sleep what with all these kids.
Plus points - UK based, easy to use and a small site so individual poems get a lot of attention.
Bad points - There is a Beginners and an Experienced section - I'm not keen on the separation. The criticism can be tough.
Occasionally I go on Poetry Circle but that's an American poetry site and largely beyond my ken.

Hello Ann - I'd love to find out more about the Witchcraft Museum book you are appearing in - I'm involved in the curation of an exhibition in Northampton Museum commemorating the 400 year anniversary of our witchcraft trials in which 5 people were hanged, and will be arranging some spoken word events in the town on and around the date of execution.
I last went to Boscastle in 2009 - just after I got my bardship. Fascinating place, isn't it?
