Hello Ian.
Thanks for commenting on "We Are Lion".
I have to say I do prefer Union to League although I'm perfectly happy watching either.
In fact I was at Odsal last night watching British Police playing Fiji Police in a triangular tournament with the Aussies.
They shared a 72-point thriller. The score was 72-0 to Fiji.
Not surprising really. When the final whistle went the GB team only had 11 players on the pitch. We reckon the Fijians had eaten a couple.

Aye, aye, Y.
Thankyou for your kind thoughts on "A Toast to Craig and Hannah". Originally I thought of getting them A Toaster for Craig and Hannah as a prezzie but the pome was a lot cheaper.
(Not sure what you meant by 'well executed'. It wasn't a recommendation for me, was it?)

As to 'The Parting',go ahead. It really is one of my favourites. I often reread it myself, and I WROTE IT! I think the anguish resonates. I'm presuming I'd still be free to publish it myself, in a book?

I think we need to get more Tweets from Stockport members, first. It's pretty easy. Open a Twitter account. Compose a poetic Tweet. Add the hashtag @heatonstwaiku to your offering. Send the Tweet. It goes to the Heatons Twaiku Twitter account, where I retweet it to all the followers.

Should we send details to News and Features
about the Heaton Arts Trail?

This might open up more poems going on Twitter from Write Out Loud members.

Harry - posted this on the blog (the westgate run) and meant to post it directly to you - sorry:

thanks Harry - you're welcome to visit any time you like :-)

that last line in stanza 2 is a bit clunky - I was trying to get the image of soot, fallen from a chimney, with footsteps going through it and trailing away into history - some of the pubs in 'Wakey' are ancient :-)

'I should cocoa'
an old-fashioned phrase (upper class) which usually means 'absolutely no way'. I can imagine Terry Thomas using it.
what the derivation is though, I couldn't tell you

Many thanks for the kind comments, Steve but I think you do your work a mild disservice. If it's simple words, then they are effective words. Far better than flannel, of which I can be very guilty. Keep up the great work.

Hi Marksy, thanks for reading the seagulls are watching, I can see your building up your blog entries, Just had a read of The template of my being, Just another load of shite and Dostoyevski's chicken. You are extremely good with words, when I look at my simple stuff, alongside your wordy attitudey stuff, well? what can I say? very inventive... I must try to write something a little more ballsy. Keep up the good verse.

Hi. M.C.
Thanks for the encouragement. My poem "My Poetry" makes me seem a little thinner skinned than I am. I wrote a short not great poem telling people where they can kiss me. I may post it later.
You also write music! I'm jealous, not really. You're multi- talented. Is it possible to post your song here?
