Don, writing comes so naturally even your comments are poetry! ??

"My daughter tells me not to
Eat when I am writing
Cos I could risk a spill-out
No food in mouth for biting
This spill-out food could land on page
(Or keyboard if you're typing)
The page it could be remedied
But keyboard? Hell, what griping....?"

Cynthia, your daughter Cyanne, my dear friend and castmate from Up With People, shared your poetry blog with me, and I love your work! I’m an old English teacher, and I love the lush imagery in your poems - such rich colors and beautiful sounds! I plan to read a few each day and maybe I’ll comment again! ❤️ Jennifer Rabold

Let me know how you and your daughter like the book when it comes. Hope your week has been good so far. Still haven't ordered your 2nd book, but will eventually get to that I promise. I also don't know for sure if Mike Took will post the review I did for your 1st one, but I can do another review for your 2nd one if you would like me to.
Whatever works for you Taylor. Either way, lots to do in the coming days.
Take care.?

Congrats again on getting Poem of the Week, and thank you for the kind comments. Although I've yet to perform open mic, I am planning on getting back into the scene of music again. Always something happening to be writing about there and in poetry.
Here's hoping it lasts for as long as possible. Thanks again Lynn.
Take care.?

Hugh - your experience with the guy and the bull mastiffs
he apparently let run free must have been both frightening and distressing - and without a resolution.
I'm sure you'll know that those who let such animals loose
to the danger of others are contravening the law and his
response to your reasonable request indicates he knew
of his culpability and wanted to escape the possible albeit
(these days!) unlikely consequences. However, that said,
you might be able to obtain some satisfying grievance
redress by reporting the incident (public interest/safety)
to the letters column of the local 'paper and to the local
police for their awareness of the risk this man presents to
vulnerable others in public. After all, his behaviour was hardly that of a responsible adult, let alone dog owner!
They do say revenge is a dish best served cold. ?

Thanks for taking notice on the collaboration Becky.
To answer your questions, the collaboration was easy, went well, and I hope to do it again sometime. I actually wrote a follow-up verse for another poem called "Megalomania MV", and was just waiting for Ferris to have time so he could finish his verse.
We both wrote our verses separately, and then sent each other the verses so we could see it all together as one. From there I simply posted it after editing for grammar and mistakes.
If you would like to write a verse for it or another one so we could put it up, feel free to. Anything you come up with would be sufficient. If not, no worries!

Thanks for commenting "Clever Love". I hadn't really thought of this one as a speak-aloud piece, as it was an exercise in rhyming form (and theme). But maybe I could try it!
Really appreciate your thoughtful comments as always!

"to try and emulate their voice is a fools errand." Yes, Taylor, to learn this lesson is the first step to developing a voice of one own. In fact, we all have a myriad of voices. The voice and persona of a poem may be a character rather than oneself. John Steinbeck said that it is only when we put ourself in another petson's shoes that we can really empathise with her/him and so 'give voice' to their particular point of view. John

Thank you to all of you kind people who have taken the time to comment upon my scribbling. Kindness is, for me, the greatest, and most under-rated, of the virtues. Thank you Big Sal for planting in my head the possibility (I was going to write 'positing' but that's a very silly word) that I might be around at the end of time. Has my head spinning that. I love to read poetry, I read everyday if possible, and I try to learn from other poets of the past and present. I really admire the work of the deeply unfashionable, Anglo-American, Anglican poet TS Eliot:
“Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future,
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
What might have been is an abstraction
Remaining a perpetual possibility
Only in a world of speculation.
What might have been and what has been
Point to one end, which is always present.
Footfalls echo in the memory
Down the passage which we did not take
Towards the door we never opened
Into the rose-garden. My words echo
Thus, in your mind.
But to what purpose
Disturbing the dust on a bowl of rose-leaves
I do not know.
Other echoes
Inhabit the garden. Shall we follow?”

Great reason to write poetry - raising funds for those affected by violence. Since poetry is a great mediator and reason to write, that in itself should be commended.?
