Hi Greg - glad you're well. I used to like walking round Hampton Court, but usually went to Kew Gardens! Miss all those trees - not many where I live, too windy! I put the walking the coast path poem up to remind me what I want to do this coming summer, a sort of new year's resolution. Don't think I'll go just at the moment, the days are too short. But maybe toenails don't grow so fast in the wintertime!

Hi Ann, yes I did have a good Christmas, thanks, including a nice walk along the river beside Hampton Court! Hope you had a decent one too, and very best wishes for a happy and creative new year. My one worry is ... is it really wise to be undertaking a coastal walk in this weather? Hope you're keeping an eye on the forecasts ...

Ta for comment on my nail scissors poem, not really a very good poem but I wrote it to remind me of what I want to carry on doing when the summer comes! Roll on that time!!

Thanks John for your comment. I'm not sure I'm brave so much as ludicrously confessional. I'm setting myself the task for new year of writing about things not feelings...I hate this time of year so if I write about feelings, it'll all get horribly depressing.
Big thanks for reading and commenting,
Rachel

Thanks for your comment on my blog Andy, I didn't think it would trigger empathy - perhaps criticism for being harsh so it was nice to read your comment.
Patience is very true - I'd have to have added stuff about throwing technology against the wall, screaming expletives and caning gin whilst manically finger tapping...

Hi Barrie, Hope you had a nice holiday/winter festival/Christmas.This globel warming is very nice for us here, we had snow and expect more in a few days.I tried being blue touch paper in my writting and got no place real fast, so I went for the gunpowder and got a fight, now as an American I dare not post, for the evil socialist/neocons on this site attack, but cant stand the fire or a real gun battle, when I bring back solid evidence. xx keep up they great rants on BO , Ill read them.

Hi Jeff - Posted on Chris' 'Nearly Love' poem -
Well 'Serial' can be 2 syllables, or rather emphasised parts (Can't remember the technical term) Yes I also like the extra HAS for the reason Jeff says and you could have this and keep the sylable count in my version (just). Win

Thanks Ann for looking in on my profile page.
The wren was a very enterprising little bird that rode on the eagle's back until it got too tired to fly any higher. So although some would praise her for tenacity and cleverness, enduring the trial issued to her, others would say she cheated. The thing i love about the wren is that she doesn't gloat. She simply goes her own merry way with grace and humility.

Only slightly cynical? I do love reading your comments John - you always have me reaching for the dictionary - curmudgeon indeed...I think you are an old charmer at heart - even Augusta seems to be warming to you - though not too sure what that bum comment means. Glad to hear that you enjoy the site - it is important to very many, I think. I love the variety of characters you get on here - they make me laugh. Happy Christmas anyway. x

Rachel, glad The English Teacher brought back so many happy memories! The bloke in question lived well on into his 90s. I wrote the poem when I heard of his death.
I really admire your Little Clock for its consistent, patient rhythm and meticulous language, painstakingly dealing with a subject that in other hands could be too painful for words. Greg

Hello mystery lady. Thanks for your comments on my miserable tract 'drenched'. You must have been the veiled lady supping bottled lager at that gig in Bury leaning on the champion poker player. You move in mysterious ways.

Hi Ann,
'Glennon' refers to Dermot Glennon who has written a classic poem about murdering his wife and keeping her body in the attic.

Helloooo,
re your question about the reader assuming the poems are autobiographical, I don't particularly mind. It does feel a little exposing but it's my choice to post them on here isn't it? I admit some of my poems are autobiographical, some aren't, some of the things I write about happened to people I know but not to me personally. I think readers will always assume there's a back story themselves anyway whether that's poetry or prose. I really appreciate your thoughtfulness in asking me that by the way.
Love
Rachel
