Cynthia, thanks very much for your comments on St Leonard's, although I think you really have been too kind. Thomas Hardy? On the other hand, you have made my day. Greg

Hello Cynthia! Thank you for your very kind comment on 'How I...'. t's like a bouncy castle -- one of those inflatable fun things you can leap around on. The bacteria love it and are willing to pay £2 for an hour on it. Any more and they rupture their cell membranes, which is sometimes useful for me but not desirable for them! The mardi gras is a bit like 'dress down Fridays and, again, they are willing to pay for the fun of dressing up. xx

Hello Alison, I just thought that I ought to apologise for my (now I think about it) inappropriate comments about Anniversary. Your reply hit me like a brick and I've felt pretty shitty since. So please accept my sincere apologies and ineptness for not reading the work properly. Graham

John, just to say belatedly how nice it was to meet you at Hebden Bridge the other week. I wanted to look again at some of the poems you read out that night, but they don't seem to be available ... I did admire them. Greg

Isobel, you are such a supporter. Thanks much. One is almost a 'story', and the other is almost 'abstract'. I've gained some 'reputation' for the former; but I'm really interested in honing other skills as well, just for fun. I actually prefer reading straightforward poems usually, but it's fun to puzzle sometimes, - operative word - SOMETIMES.

Jane, what an excellent comment on 'Old Woman Waiting ...' I see exactly what you mean about really personal intrusion. I also will consider the idea of 'diffidence' although I don't see how the word works in 'Denying symbols diffidence.' Thanks for your contribution.

Thanks Dave for the comment on my Nightjar villanelle.
I got wrong some of the alternate endings in each stanza but put them right in the mp3 (or vice versa) but you're right that I take a few liberties coaxing in the repeating lines for new contexts!
I write this after we beat Arsenal midweek but before we lose to Chelsea this afternoon!

You have a strong poetic style. My favorite was dated 11/4/10. I liked the whole thing but my favorite lines were:
Feelings to emotions
Cant stop devotions.
Love the way you captured that - been there. Great job.

Kealan, how did you use the word 'solice' as in 'a disgrace to solice' in your comment about Thomas' latest poem? I looked it up, and found nothing; yet 'solace' didn't seem quite right either. I know you love language; so I'm interested.

HI Belinda! was lovely to meet you too, shame we didn't get to chat more in the cafe or pub afterwards due to dashing back to Chester. We will catch up next week! Thank you for commenting and Im glad you like it. I too agree with you. I would have liked to make the poem consistently abstract and will work on that. I will be sure to read your work and leave a comment. Take care. em xxx

Welcome aboard, I like the 'memories / room ' metaphor especially 'memories are a room we dress together' the duality of this is great dress/decorate dress/clothes. Also the idea of a room as a stage to live out stages of life, the poem touches on some of my favourite emotions.
p.s is that the African coastline on your pic.>? Peter.
