Hello Cynthia, I have finally gotten some time aside to consider and incorporate your keen (and not pushy) suggestions of the Wind Chimes poem. Allow me again to thank you for your interaction and constructive input. Cheers, Frederick.

John, thanks for your comments on "Prestatyn". It's not entirely factual - we did spend camping holidays in Abergele and Towyn but never Prestatyn. Poetic licence I suppose.

Hi Alison - thanks for your comment on 'On finding a tiny hole in my shoe...' -- raising a smile is exactly what it was intended to do -- I've been keeping my grandson amused for a week or so with this sort of stuff, while he's visiting from Canada!

Hehehe, I do like to steal bits of other people's poems and did enjoy very much playing with the First they came for lines. So tempting to put because I am not a chicken but decided to drop the "not".

Isobel, Hi, hope you & yours are well. Thanks for your comments. Dark does have the negative connotation but it's more as in secret, hidden, the unconscious breaking through. Although that can bring out all sorts of truly dark stuff in the negative sense! X

Thanks Isabel for your kind words. I'd be delighted to come and perform in the North West. I'm fairly busy in June and July but I'll look out for opportunities from August. If you know anyone who is looking for poets, I'd love to hear from them.
Best wishes

Profile up-date:
I put 'Comfort' on at the Unity and it was a great success - due to great actors and support from other poets.Since put on a one-hour play called' Trip to the Cottage'(4 venues) and wrote a version of the Tempest set in a Garden Estate -'The Garden of Doctor Prosperous' in blank verse.Hope to stage it in August. Doing readings still and like to keep up with 'Writeoutloud'

Thanks for your comments on Trainspotting, Lynn.
I enjoyed constructing the rhythm and the abab wasn't as difficult as I thought it might be. I think the longer lines (alternate 12 and 11 syllables) helped, although maintaining the discipline of feminine "a"s and masculine "b"s was a challenge!

Thanks for your comment Laura. Yes - the Escape theme has been rather heavy - for me it was also too similar to the Freedom theme. Nonetheless it seems to have produced plenty of good pieces - which proves that there is no end to the fountain of misery we all drink from LOL. Hope to see you around soon. Isobel x

Thanks so so much Lynn for comments on 'Beloved,he waits'.It is for a friend of the family,a young lad,who died from having cancer. And as stated in the poem, was extremely brave indeed.I would like to have named him but that is too personal to his family, which I understand.Glad you too enjoyed Porthcawl-we had a very nice lunch with the ever so kind hard working Ladies of Trinity church,in the town.My gosh.they have so many activities! many thanks again Lynn.Catch you again sometime-Stef.xx

Thanks Isobel (Rebel...) I must say I don't do drugs either, and I'm not bi-polar thank god. Keep falling in love though - damn! I'd LOVE to do more performance stuff, it has (the little I HAVE done) made me feel more confidant. But there's very little going on down here that I can get to. But I'm always saying that - I should maybe try and start something. I'm feeling great, but I've got to the stage where little old ladies at bus stops come up to me and start saying "Of course, in OUR day" and inwardly I go "FUCK OFF!!!" And women in my pottery class, if men/sex are mentioned, say "Thank god all THAT'S over!" and I want to say "Hang on a tick!" It all started last Saturday when someone at a writer's group I go to was surprised I needed money for the bus. She's DEAD MEAT! (Actually, she's very nice - I'll forgive her one day!)xx

That's one reason I commented so fast. (Escape 2)- I thought you might change your mind about posting and it would disappear. It moved me so much, and it shows your strength. As you know loads of what I post is stuff that's very personal. If it's in your head and heart, it's hard not to mention in when you write poetry!xx

I think what you describe is common where those who have died are deeply loved and missed. One of my sisters experienced the same with her husband - could even smell his breath - it does make you wonder.

Hi Isobel, thanks very much for taking such an interest in The Clackety-Clack. Funnily enough, I found myself talking to a poet who had read a very moving poem about her father in the interval at the South magazine reading last week. I spoke about this feeling of my dad being close to me a couple of times in the first three months after he died, and then really never experiencing that feeling ever again. She said she had experienced exactly the same thing after her father's death. I was quite startled by this. I wonder if there's anyone else out there with similar experiences? The final two lines of my poem are really about my realisation about us both taking the same tube and rail line home towards the end of our working lives, and feeling quite comforted by this.

Thanks very much for your comments on The Clackety-Clack, Simon. You know as well as anyone how much I write about railways. I'm sure there are some who think, Oh no, not another one! Apologies to them. But I suppose I do find trains, railways, stations rich in meaning and metaphor.
