My daughter got married last Friday and I had to buy a suit to give her away, my first one for eleven years. Haven't got many decent pictures of myself, usually on holiday and with sunglasses on.

By the way absolutely loved the last poem Ann, the weight of sentiment was bang on the money and the last lines were wonderful. Great work.

Thanks Dave. I suspect the reference to Our Gert in A Wonderful Opportunity gave its authorship away!
The real vintage though is Bert Williams's - worth checking out on You Tube.
Curiously he blacked up as a Minstrel despite the fact that he was, himself, black!

You're confusing the issue Cynthia...unless otherwise stated-(as in +1 or -1)1+1 always equals 2, as I qualified in my remark re 'dialectics'. Re 'the egg'. You are confusing a simple statement of fact with the qualifier of morality- I said: 'If I take an egg and crush it in my hand- it is an event- indisputable- and only becomes a matter for 'dispute' when a sentient being 'intervenes''. Murder is also an event and is covered by my initial statement.

Hi Cynthia, thanks for the continued comments. Because each word was treated separately (Cut and pasted if you like) I don't think this piece says anything about football. Maybe that Mr McCarra uses a colourful vocabulary to report it but no more. His match reports would not sit comfortably in a red top for these reasons and this is partly why I like them. Win x
