Hi John
Thanks for your endorsement
In a witty, brief refrain.
If I could pep your sex-life
I'd do it all again
But I am so bowled over
By your keen olympic praise
That I think you'll have to manage
With other tried and trusted ways!

It was indeed a memorable weekend, M.C. A great Friday night watching the opening ceremony on the big screen in the park, the excitement of the men's race, and almost as big a crowd for the women's, when I nearly got run over in my eagerness to get the perfect pic. I'm tempted to go and watch the time trials a few miles away on Wednesday. In the meantime here are a few imperfect pix, to give you a flavour of it.

Hello Greg - I do hope that you and your fellow villagers enjoyed the cycle road race.
A little bit of European razzamatazz in the UK.
I was impressed at the sheer number of folk who
turned out...even more in places than I have
seen on mountain tops in the Tour de France!
At least the weather for the men's race was better than that endured by the unfortunate
girls the following day - when GB's brave
Lizzie Armistead won a silver - and eclipsed the men!

Hello TC...there are dreams - and there's living in a dream world.
The Olympics are a lot older than you OR yours
truly, and this pensioner is happy to see the tradition continue.
Money moves around - and some will always have more than others: it was ever thus. Even
Christ didn't preach to alleviate the position
of the poor in his day. Some are born rich (fate); some have riches thrust upon them (nice!) - and some achieve riches (ability and
graft plus, perhaps, luck too). The rest of us
rub along as best we can. (It was ever thus!)

As for YOUR comment

Is not that what we are doing? and why state the obvious in that regard.
Finally, you make the comments you want to make and leave it to me to make the comments I want to make.

I say that the cost will not be met nor exceeded by the income. But the politicians and their cohorts will cook-da-books to make sure the figures are pleasing. You read the literature.

What income raised will be creamed off by big-business. You read the literature.

It is an unconscionable excess at any time- but in one of austerity ( caused by the very people who have orchestrated this recession ) it is an outrage. You read the literature.

Massive inconvenience to the public in a host of ways. You read the literature.

The undermining of civil liberties and the handing over to private business functions of the state. You read the literature.

Who gives a toss about drug addled cheats with their sham amateurism. You read the literature.

£30,000,000,000 could supply help and facilities to very many individuals and organisations who/that are financially and physically 'hanging by a thread'. You read the literature.

Imagine those real sporting facilities that could be built across the 'GB' for ALL citizens, especially the young. You read the literature.

While peoples houses, cars and property are being robbed and children abused, the police are 'bobbying' it at the Olympics. You read the literature.

...and as for tourists being welcomed to the event- hundreds of people on short term lets are being evicted to make way for the 'wealthy' You read the literature.

To all those adults who are thrilled by the Olympics.
To all those sportspeople who are on the point of hysteria over the Olympics.
To all those in charge of or likely to financially gain from the Olympics.
To all those in the media -epecially the BBC-who have become 'embedded' into the circus,
the following:

I say that the cost will not be met nor exceeded by the income. But the politicians and their cohorts will cook-da-books to make sure the figures are pleasing. You read the literature.

What income raised will be creamed off by big-business. You read the literature.

Who gives a toss about drug addled cheats with their sham amateurism. You read the literature.

£30,000,000,000 could supply help and facilities to very many local and national voluntary organisations that are desperate for funding and those people who are financially, emotionally and socially excluded. You read the literature.

Imagine those real sporting facilities that could be built across the 'GB' for ALL citizens, especially the young. You read the literature.

While peoples houses, cars and property are being robbed and children abused, the police are 'bobbying' it at the Olympics. You read the literature.

Royal Navy Warships, RAF helicopters and jets, Rapier missiles and 14,000 British soldiers have been deployed (more than in Afghanistan) You read the literature.

This above is but a sample, You read the itemised bill.

Hi Dave Thanks for your comment on Us Nolimpics.
I've only just discovered your work as I only joined WOL in March this year but I am becoming seriously addicted!! I love comic rhyming verse having been weaned on Mariott Edgar/Stanley Holloway, cut my teeth on Flanders and Swan and confirmed into the cult of Les Barker and so to plunge into the warm pool of your verses, rhymes and wordplay is a sheer delight. Keep on blogging ! XX Yvonne
