Decades 'Here are the young men, the weight on their shoulders' haunting words that chilled my spine hearing the opening lines of 'Decades' I knew you didn't have long in this world Such a poignant song, almost final a more mournfully beautiful lament I'd never heard a masterpiece among many others that will live on forever Joy Division explored the darker side of life groundbreaking work like none ever heard before the mood or your songs gripping a generation lost in your feelings, in your emotional stance lost like you in your dance like trance Fears confirmed, you had taken your life anticipated greatness taking it’s toll your demons inevitably taking control news that dumbfounded the world utter shock for all those that loved you Three decades on and as revered as ever two iconic records, one iconic band your words and music propelled through time As the last bars fade 'Where have they been' echoes around my mind where indeed, we may never know hairs prickle on my neck to this day I never met you but in your music I felt your pain we never wanted to lose you things would never be the same Heaven knows how your family made sense of it perhaps there was no sense to make October 2010 Jeff Dawson We love the music of Joy Division, the mood of their music and lyrics inspire the way we write. Their track 'A Means to an End' was selected as the name of our band because of that!
