Welcome to WOL - I look forward to reading your work!

Would that last comment be meant for yourself Cynthia ;?)

Thanks for your comment on Touch and Go - I didn't realise it was just as bad in cold climates - having to wear a leotard - the thought of it - was it a question of touch and stay? I think we are very spoilt in England - there are a lot of gentlemen around - and you don't realise it until you live elsewhere.

Meanwhile, I'm hoping you can make it to the November Tudor, which is 14th November. There's a bed at my house for you and a rumbustious welcome awaiting :) xx

Your poetry fills me with the same wonder that I feel when I look up into the stars - perceptionally close and intellectually distant - a surround of mystery - but soul filling.

What ho, MC!
Glad you liked "Today's Wedding". I see a lot of them (and funerals) as verger at Selby Abbey. I often wonder how they'll turn out - the weddings, that is. (The funerals are more predictable).

Hello Dave,
I hope you are keeping well.
Thanks for your thoughts on "Today's Wedding". Yes, i suppose the custom of taking the man's name is in decline. That rather reassures me as I have 2 daughters, and unless they choose to stay "Coopeys" I am "The Last of The ...."

Apologies Francine - I went a bit flippant, probably embarrassed by not really understanding. Now that you ask: not sure if I WANT to be a Philistine. . . it's a sort of default state, on occasion. Anyway - changing the subject - Your logo (do we say avatar now?) is in a class of its own. Formidable!

Hi Harry- re ''Wandering expositions''April 2013 your advice: 'Why don`t you fix line eleven?' would then remove/fix the point of the preceding line, it being a stand alone conjunction ''where'' where the word where is indeed a stand alone conjunction! Tommy :)
as in -

''...There are stand alone conjunctions
in hope that it amazes
where
in solitude it functions
in contrived schematic phrases...''

This allows for the humorous play on the isolated nature of the conjunction ''where''

Cynthia hi, I had forgotten your post re'Blackened berries' from yesterday. The edit was minimal, but more was envisaged-but the un-used edits where forgotten. I have an increasing problem with memory- I hope this is due only to medication. I know this will sound pretentious- I was intrigued by the individuals Rumi and Shams both Persian poets ('amongst' other things)referenced in work by Philip Glass in 'Monsters of Grace'. I'm now getting 'off' subject. Thanks for your interest.
Tommy ps the track in reference is: 'Like this'
pps the line that sparked it all off-''When Shams comes back from Tabriz,
he'll put his head around the edge
of the door to surprise us.
Like this.''
ppps I'll now attempt to address the missing edits.

Izzy Old Fruity!
Nice to see you again last Sunday, and with Cate too - the stuff of which dreams are made! (Well, my dreams, anyway).
Thankyou for your thoughts on "Wtf?". I agree entirely about flogging to death words at the extreme of our vocabulary.
I suppose the F word has been replaced by the N word in terms of offensiveness. Perhaps that's because the elephant in the room for our grandparents was sex whereas for us it's race.
What's next for our grandkids?

Hello MC,
Many thanks for your thoughts on "For These", Said The Father. My own thoughts are that, anthropologically speaking, we haven't come so very far. Indeed the dinosaurs didn't get so far in the millions of years they were around; it's expecting a bit much to think we can move on much in a few thousand.
With regard to "Wtf?", despite the tongue-in-cheek ending I really do think the word is worked to death. Isobel's quite right when she asks if we dilute the usage of words at the extremes of our vocabulary, how to you then express extremes?

The only thing we missed was the collage poem
maybe next time.

Like the photo Maggie and you got a mention well done.

The Road

On a road
no signs seen
following the person
marching in front.

We ask him
wait a minute
are we going
the right way?

He turns around
saying to us
who of you
made me leader?

Hello there - and thank you for commenting on the
posts about mental health - result of Tom Doolan's
poem "1 in 4".
The subject is always emotive - from various
points of view - especially as the suffering
takes many forms and claims many victims. Talking
- or in this medium: posting - can be very therapeutic. The exchange of information and
support is always a positive thing.
Keep writing!

Yes - I realised the 'contentment' word was wrong as soon as I'd posted it. I don't think many poets are contented - we all think too much for that.

The closest we can get to contentment is perhaps the lack of abject misery :) I've been there a couple of times in my life - enough to value this lack of contentment phase perhaps :)

Intrepid - moi? I like the idea...
