Thank you Steve, 'everyone' refers to Scrooge in derogatory terms - the man became THE most generous and warm person in town!

I am sorry, John, but I have to correct you! - I began my working life as a humble junior, not rising to the dizzy heights of a secretarial role until some years later! - perhaps you mis-heard me - and yes, my memory serves me well! (well it does for long time ago, but not always for what happened last week!)
Have a lovely Christmas, one and all!
Love and blessings...Dorinda x

I grew up in the United Church of Canada, a merger of the Protestant Presbyterian and Methodist disciplines, presumably a valiant effort to offset the intense and often vitriolic bickering between the two denominations. The UCC allowed, even encouraged, unbiassed Biblical scholarship among the laity as well as clergy. At eighteen I seriously considered the ministry as my 'calling'. But I soon discovered that very few people really 'wanted to think'; most wished only 'to be told what to think.' And that squashed any desire to become a 'preacher girl'.
I stayed deeply connected to the Church for many years, studying and singing. I began to sing in a choir at age six, and continued both in church and concert hall until quite recently. The musical heritage of the Christian Faith is simply beautiful, in every genre, historically, and perhaps most especially at Christmas.

Title:STAND FOR YOURSELF OR BECOME UNEMPLOYED TILL DEATH People defile you. They say you are of no use They never stop vilfying you. They say you are much me a burden. You do good, They never appreciate. You do good , They take you as a fool. You try not to be a burden They harden it. Are they vacuous? I fondly ask, hell no!the answer came to my mind. Only the power of greed rule their life. Their gratuity don't allow them to share with you.oh...no...not only because they want more. But because they see potential, They see much of a success in you. And seeing your success -will remind them of their laziness. Stand for yourself because they are not happy for your success written by:jan lehutjo date of birth:1998-04-19

You are a man of many facets, sharply cut, like a fine diamond. Greetings of the Winter Solstice - the blessed promise of renewed warmth and light - to you and yours. Be safe. Be happy.

thanks so much for your kind comments on 'Herod' Stu - sorry it's taken a while for me to respond - I've been in Austria on holiday - just got back. I know what you mean about Haiku's - I think folk try them because they are 'just 3 lines', but they're bloody difficult to do properly - I write a few, and publish fewer - they either work ands every word counts - or they don't and are banished to haiku hell ;-)

Thank you Cynthia for your kind words. You pay me a real compliment. I think by 'traveller' I mean both that I don't know where home is, in a real as well as in an existential sense, and that I keep searching, and that I do so alongside other people, other travellers. Which, as you say, sometimes resolves itself in really travelling the world...

Hi OLM
I love your reminiscences, being an old Lancashire chap myself, though from Oldham. I used to teach at Maitland Street, of Skeffington Road, near you, in the 1970s. keep up the good work please! Have you recorded any of these on audio? If not, please do.
Cheers.
